Those 2 blown saves by the dodgers which would have potentially put them .5 games ahead of the dbacks seems to have bit them in the butt. lol, hopefully he slumps like crazy

The Arizona Diamondbacks added a big bat Monday in their attempt to hold off the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West race.
Arizona acquired Cincinnati Reds outfielder Adam Dunn, who is tied for the major league lead with 32 home runs, for three prospects.

That's nice for Arizona, but why would a half game lead have mattered?
cuz the dodgers have been behind the damn dbacks for like the whole season...a .5 game lead would have been big compared to being 1.5 out cuz of 2 blown saves. every game is huge for the dodgers considering how bad they play with RISP and with a tough sched coming up against the phillies and brewers _________________ "THIS IS OUR TURN, THIS IS OUR CHANCE, THIS IS OUR SEASON...THIS IS OUR CHAMPIONSHIP!" - Kobe Bean Bryant

Why did Ned Colletti not claim Dunn just to block the dbacks? Man ....
the Dodgers only want players who are "gamers" Dunn is not known as a gamer or a leader or a grizzled veteran so Ned had little interest.
Well, what I mean is had Ned put in a claim, he could have then refused every deal with the Reds, which essentially means the Reds couldn't put him on waivers again. Since the Dodgers have a worse record than the Dbacks they would have had first priority. It doesn't mean the Dodgers had to assume his salary. Teams block other teams from getting players off the waiver wire all the time.
You're right about your analysis though. I'm sure something like that was going through Ned's head.
Tough being a Reds fan (I'm one)... they don't have the market to afford a big payroll so this is status quo. When guys develop into stars and are in for a big K they get moved for prospects. *sigh*

well your future is looking bright with the foursome of Bruce, Votto, Volequez, and Cueto. Not many teams have a young foursome that good.

Do those three prospects have lots of potential? The Reds sound like the Clippers, being stingy and only caring about keeping the payroll low... _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
