No brace (or anything else) on his knee. No limp either. He was just out there training...anyone who didn't know Andrew Bynum would never know he is coming off knee surgery. Seriously though he is fast, I was impressed. He slowed down a little as it wore on because his trainer was really working him hard (he had to finish his laps/sprints under certain times) but no signs of any favoring of the knee. And the dude looks like he has almost no body fat.

How Cool is it that Bynum is still 20 Years old?

He still won't be 21 Years of age for another two months.

He already has 3 Years of NBA experience
He already has 3 Years of playing for Phil Jackson and the Triangle
He already has 3 Years of playing alongside Kobe Bryant.
He already has 3 Years of working with KAJ

37 More Days untill Drew plays against the Clippers.

Imagine a full speed open field tackle at the knees. End of career.

Oh, no worries then: No one at El Segundo makes full speed open-field tackles

Hawaiian Punch is right though, he looked supremely fit and ready to go. I can't quite figure out how he fits in that little black car of his (couldn't quite tell the make) though, but he appears to be pretty determined.

Glad to see Drew staying hungry. Hopefully there will be many many more summers of intense training.

And as a coach, you would know what fast on a track looks like.

Not too many bynum detractors around here anymore, but that was the knock on the kid before, that he is slow and lumbering. The opposite is true, Bynum is VERY fast for his size.

Absolutley great news: no brace, no limping, no favoring!

I can't wait for Pau and AB to be on the floor together!

during most of the spring, matt lienert was working out at my high-school. about twice a week, he would be down on the field throwing footballs, and working with a throwing coach.

no clue why he picked my school, but he was there twice a week for about 2 or 3 months

Man I'm getting excited! Looks like Drew's coming in healthy and at full speed. Got to love his work ethic! This season is going to be fun, fun, fun.

The trainer worked him hard, having him do combinations of 1/4 and 1/2 mile runs and sprint intervals. We should all be excited about his return this year, Mitch was right...its obvious he worked hard while out with injury because the guy has almost no body fat and is looking fast.

Is it a blacktop, rubber, or a dirt track?

I doubt the Laker's facility has a wide open track outdoors for him to run on. The High School was probably nearby, so he decided to use it instead.

maybe el segundo high is close to their homes. a lot of athletes live in manhattan beach. or maybe he's spending part of his day running at the high school then hitting up the lakers practice facility in el segundo. good to hear he's working

Awesome! Thanks for sharing. I thought he was still in Atlanta, but good to know that he's back in LA prepping for training camp and pre-season.

Is the Lakers training camp solely in Santa Barbara now? For some reason, I remember reading that training camp won't be in Hawaii anymore.

Might have something to do with reports like this one:
Quote:
A 1994 study of 7,000 former players by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health found linemen had a 52 percent greater risk of dying from heart disease than the general population. While U.S. life expectancy is 77.6 years, recent studies suggest the average for NFL players is 55, 52 for linemen.

Sometimes its just nice to have a change of scenery. Its the first time I've ever seen him there so its not like its a regular thing.

Maybe he just wanted to change it up. Sometimes athletes just need little things to change it up, even something as dumb as changing the venue. You never want to get in a rut.
