So looking forward to Jones/Cormier next month.
I have no clue who will win this one and how. I think Jones has more skill and length, but Cormier has such a strength and wrestling advantage it's crazy. I really don't know who will take this one.
Thoughts on who will win? |

You mean to hide an HGH jaw?
I personally think MMA fighters should be banned from having beards. Wouldn't a thick beard act as a sort of cushion for the chin?
People are saying that the Jones/DC brawl was a setup. Idk, it looked pretty legit to me. |
Yes, Zulu, that's what I'm implying.
Like Matt Kemp's recent full beard.
To be honest, the idea of that being a "set up" between Jones and Cormier crossed my mind immediately. We already know that they did that with Silva and Sonnen on TUF.
Roll around on the floor and it's worth at least another million or so PPV buys. _________________ We back. |

I think Cormier can pose some difficulties for Jones.
But Jones is super crafty in the octagon and intelligent. He's used to having a height/length advantage over his opponents so, in that way, facing DC is going to present some very familiar things to him. Gustafsson gave him so much trouble because he presented Jones with some eerily familiar things that Jones brings to the table.
I could easily see Jones going with an unorthodox, defensively sound/boring strategy that stifles DC and keeps him from harm until he can start with the in and out pop shots later in the fight.
That being said, if DC can apply pressure ... effective pressure and catch Jones, he will be the strongest fighter Jones has ever been tested by and if DC has gotten back to full health after his injury and comes in, in excellent condition, it could be a war. And I wouldn't be surprised to see either guy win if that's what transpires.
I'm just glad that this fight is happening. Just wish DC was hadn't gotten injured. _________________ We back. |

Okay, I'm no expert but I just watched it from a different angle.
That's what you call a pulled punch. No ill intent on it.

I know you're talking about Diaz here, but I'm not so sure this doesn't describe Anderson at times as well. |

I think Jones comes forward at all times to keep DC moving Backward and uncomfortable. He will rely on his take down defense and ability to stand when taken down.I see JJ attempting numerous take downs on DC to get him to his back.DC has to move forward to be at his best |

Man, I'm such a goof. Was about to come on here and talk about the brawl. Didn't even know you guys were talking about it before my post haha.
Anyway, that was really dangerous - you can't have brawls like that where innocent people could get hurt. I'm sure Dana talked to both of them. |

Interesting and very cunning, in theory.
But, I just don't see JJ putting himself in that kind of danger needlessly.
With his huge reach advantage, I think he's going the safer route and pop shot DC and frustrate him by keeping the pace slow all under JJ's control. Then he'll get to him later in the fight.
But, as a viewer, I'd love to see him go the less safe route and try to back up DC. _________________ We back. |

Me too. Unless Cormier is really THAT good a wrestler, it's hard to envision a fighter of Cormier's physical stature beating Jones. |

DC wants that from JJ IMO.He can play the Cain role by being all the way in or all the way out.Mostly all in and pushing JJ against the fence and controlling the pace. Not saying JJ cant win such a fight just think that type of fight is better for DC.JJ walked forward against a heavy hitter like Texiera i think he will again against DC |

that's why I thought the whole "hyping" the fight idea was silly...
There's no need to hype the fight.
1) People could've easily been hurt in that setting
2) Without the brawl, It was already gonna be the most anticipated fight of the year _________________ ♪ ♫One good thing about music, when it hits, you feel no pain...

I really don't think its act. The only reason I could see it being a act is to turn Jones into the Mayweather of the UFC cause he's starting to come off as unlikeable |

Most elite MMA fighters could kill another fighter or person pretty easily. If the refs didn't stop the fight, they could just strangle the other person to death.
Jones is a scary mofo - he's got the credibility already, because he's mauled so many good fighters. Still not counting out Cormier - He's been too good in the fights I've seen. |

He's fake because being a heel like Mayweather or Lesnar doesn't actually work in your favor in the long run. Mayweather doesn't care about endorsements because he makes more than enough from his fights alone. Lesnar wasn't around MMA long enough for it to matter. Jones is sponsored by Nike now. He has to maintain a certain image.
Personally, I've never been a fan. I respect the hell out of him as a fighter, but something about him has always rubbed me the wrong way. I don't think it was that he came off as fake, but that doesn't surprise me either. _________________ Jeffs

That really sucks. And it made that great card on Aug 30th worse too since they moved the 2nd title fight (Mighty Mouse) to take the place of the Jones/Cormier fight |
