Bad week for Dana White. The face of the UFC is suspended and stripped of his title, while across town Mayweather vs Pacquiao is about to pull in close to half a billion dollars in the biggest Boxing fight of all time. Poor timing Jon Jones!

UFC will never be on par with boxing, not now, not tomorrow, not for 100 years. The proof is in the numbers.

UFC needs in infusion of next level leadership. It also needs a star that can transcend the sport. Ronda is good, but no one will take a girl fighter seriously enough to be a Michael Jordan of their sport.

I dont see boxing in much better shape as far as general popularity. Heavy Weight division is dead and after May and Pac retire there would be no mega-stars to pull the casual fan's interest

yup.. UFC lost a lot of luster when GSP left.. Anderson got dethroned.. Chael stopped running his mouth (my goodness that was so entertaining).

Add Jon Jones' debacle to this and they're struggling to find a good star.. Pettis seemed like a good star.. but he just got dominated.

UFC is finding out that stars sell PPVs.

They need to simplify.

conor mcgregor is that dude

Average PPV buyrates for UFC are around 200-400K. Keep in mind their PPV's are six weeks apart which is just too much when we have Fight Night and UFC on Fox on top of that. In any event, that's about on par with any non-prime Manny fight or Floyd fight. Manny and Floyd PPV numbers are a usually over a million or in the case of Floyd vs DLH or Canelo over 2 million. Interestingly, Pac's most recent fight was an anemic (for his standards) 350K. The mega UFC fights like Brock broke a 1 million PPV's. Cormier/Jones was 800K buyrates. The takeaway I get is that the average boxing PPV is about on par with UFC in terms of buyrates. Only Floyd and prime Pac numbers really stood out. UFC on the other hand have quite a few fighters that have PPV numbers that dwarf the average boxing fight. Also, no one seems to care about the UFC's lighter divisions. Should just scrap them.

Lot of their big PPV guys are no longer around.

The behavior is just so weird...Why the hell would you run away if you would be able to be identified by your car/belongings? Maybe he was on crack, and wanted to get it out of his system before going to the police.

Ronda is the best draw the UFC has now, and Mighty Mouse is by far the worst (get that guy off of PPV's ASAP!). This is from the other day:

UFC 184 (Rousey/Zingano): 590k
UFC 185 (Pettis/Dos Anjos): 275k
UFC 186 (Mighty Mouse): 100-125k

the UFC needs a hero to Bones Jones heel character... it's become particularly boring as of the moment, except Rousey of course. I think it's time for the MMA to start promoting cross promotion fights.

Look at the all time list for MMA:

Brock's WWF following...wow. Losing GSP, Anderson and now Jones. Ouch...that's gotta sting. Only Ronda can put up the big #'s. 187 should be a good one but that's by virtue of having a stacked as hell card (even without Jon).

Yeah the MMA fad is definitely fading in popularity. 187 reminds me of the cards we used to get back in 2008 when we had a PPV every other month and that was it.

Rumble by 2nd rd TKO or DC by decision.

Weidman by 2nd round TKO (GnP)

Brown by 1st rd KO.

Cerrone by decision.

My picks unless it involves an overwhelming favorite are usually disastrous.

Me too. Glad I was wrong on that one.

Man, Vitor without TRT...his chest look like flapjacks. Reminds me of how Bigfoot looked...skin looked like it was sagging...gross.

Was a pretty good card all in all, loved the Arlovski fight.

Cerrone looked decent too, breaking Makdessi's jaw with a nice move.

I can't bring myself to like Weidman for some reason, but he's legit, took care of business tonight.

Cant stand Cormier, was hoping to see Rumble knock him out, but Cormier got it done.

Excellent card! Wow, I was f'ing exhausted just watching Rumble - Cormier is a heavy guy to have on you for that long. Also, props to Weidman...Not my favorite fighter in the world, but he is an absolute beast.

That was a great card and I was happy with all the winners.

In the prelims, how the heck did Dodson win?

I thought he lost at least two of the three rounds, yet he got the majority decision victory.. lame fight...

Tonight UFC Fox Sports 1 Brazil. Main Event: Carlos Condit vs. Thiago Alves. Condit is a big favorite.

Condit is a hell of a fighter. Dude had a year layoff with reconstructive knee surgery ACL / Meniscus and he didn't miss a beat.
