Yeah, that group paid way too much.

I honestly don't think MMA will get any bigger than it has been already. Congrats to the Fertitta brothers. They (and White) saw something in the UFC when no one else did.

If they Raiders move to Vegas, they probably want to buy a share in the team.

First of all, how do you measure if they paid too much?

Secondly, I think the UFC could be improved in many, many ways. The production is way too American and they could do tons to really improve the spectator experience.

Brock Lesnar flagged by USADA for potential anti-doping violation

Quote:
Brock Lesnar has been flagged by USADA.

The UFC released a statement Friday evening that Lesnar and the promotion had been notified by USADA of a potential Lesnar anti-doping violation. The potential violation comes from the failure of an out-of-competition drug test June 28, the release said.

The UFC said USADA received the testing results July 14 — five days after Lesnar defeated Mark Hunt at UFC 200 in his MMA return. The same was tested at UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory, a WADA-accredited lab.

USADA, as is its policy, did not release the name of the substance Lesnar tested positive for.

Can't say that is shocking. Didn't Lesnar put Jon Jones down for failing his test?

I was listening to Chael's on Joe Rogan's podcast and he makes a lot of great points. Being a private company, the public has no clue about the financials of the company. He's probably privy to a lot of inside information as he's fairly close with Dana and he pointed out the UFC's Globo TV deal (Brazilian TV) dwarfs the current deal with Fox. People look at the UFC and they think of it in terms of PPV sales and gate revenue but they have TV deals with nations across the globe.

The same thing occurred when many were panning the Dodgers sale and the exorbitant price tag it fetched--including the vast majority of the baseball media. Guess who had the last laugh when an $8.3B local TV deal was secured? A group of investors isn't going to pony up $4B without having an idea where they can take the product.

Did anyone else see the Bellator event last night?

Cyborg Santos got hit with one of the most vicious knee shots I've ever seen, fractured his skull!

My friend who trains at the same place I do was supposed to be on the card but withdrew due to injury, we got seats right next to the cage to watch it, the sound of Michael Page's knee hitting Cyborg was pretty brutal.

It's bjpenn.com with a quote from his manager. I wouldn't read too much into this.

Lawler gets smashed! 2 minutes in.

I always thought he didn't deserve to be the champ. The last two fights were questionable.

I thought he lost to Hendricks twice, honestly. Also thought Condit won. Guy was living on borrowed time. Tough as hell though.

Diaz vs. McGregor Press Conference

Conor shows up late. Nate leaves early.

Water bottle throwing between camps ensues.

Although it was Nick doing the orchestrating of the walkout, it was a good move. It absolutely took all of the air out of Conor's diva entrance. And it simultaneously got under the Irish man's skin. After getting choked out, he's being outplayed by the Diaz bros.

Conor with a disclosed $3m payday and Nate with $2m. Conor getting Nate PAID! They'll both hit around $10m after PPV points.

I'm surprised McGregor is favored in this match. I have to give the edge to Nate.

Wow, Conor looks so bad. He is completely gassed. Nate will finish him here in the 4th round.
