Mavs-Spurs SET for first round...should be a great series, they always play each other tough.

That is a good series, good draw for Mavs. They might actually get out of the first round, miraculously.

I don't get why Portland will be 4th if they win tonight. The NBA seeding rules say:
"The top four seeds will be the three division winners plus the team with the next best record. Those four will be ordered by record (and tiebreakers if needed), so it's possible that two teams in the same division could hold the top two spots, with the other two division winners at Nos. 3 and 4. "

Portland holds the tie-breaker vs the Spurs, so shouldn't Portland end up 3rd if they win tonight?

I'm thinking the same thing. I don't see how the Spurs clinched the 3rd seed. If Portland wins tonight, they get it.

Spurs have definitely locked up 3rd.

This is the tie breaker rules:

Two-Team Tiebreaker
1. Division winner (this criterion is applied regardless of whether the tied teams are in the same division)
2. Better record in head-to-head games
3. Higher winning percentage within division (if teams are in the same division)
4. Higher winning percentage in conference games
5. Higher winning percentage against playoff teams in own conference
6. Higher winning percentage against playoff teams in opposite conference
7. Higher point differential between points scored and points allowed

That means Portland is playing for home court right now. Denver is playing for nothing.

Despite all of the injuries on the Lakers team this year, to finish only within one game of HCA throughout is not too shabby.

...and Err Jordan, though it doesn't seem as significant now but at the time, Fish had to play heavy minutes for several weeks.

It was already Portland vs. Houston, just a matter of who has homecourt. Portland wins, they get it.

Denver laying an egg so far. Blazers look like our biggest threat in the West. I like watching them play. 'cept when they play us.

Nuggets had ZERO incentive to play hard.

Blazers-Rockets should be another great series.
