unranked FSU goes to U of Florida who is ranked #6 and has been a trendy Final Four pick and easily knocks them off 63-51. It is the 6th straight time the 'Noles have beat the Gators in basketball....most have been considered upsets.

Evansville, a 25 point underdog, upset top-ranked Kentucky. The Purple Aces closed 40-1 on the money line at South Point. The 25-point line matches the 3rd-largest betting upset in the last 15 seasons in a D-I vs D-I college basketball game. ESPN BPI had Evansville with a 4 pct chance to win.

Didn't get a chance to watch any of the game, but I checked the score for the first time when it was 61-55 Evansville and I thought, "no that can't be right, it must be 31-55 to UK".

I did not know at the time, but Evansville is coached by former Kentucky great Walter McCarty.

I really don’t understand what Memphis is doing, Taking the NCAA to court over an eligibility issue isn’t likely to end well.

to be clear, it was not Memphis, but Wiseman himself that was taking legal action against the NCAA....but Memphis clearly supported him because they allowed him to continue to play.

Today it was announced he has dropped his legal challenge and has been ruled ineligible by Memphis. I assume the NCAA has let Memphis know they will reinstate him at some point....probably by the time conference schedule starts. He had to be ruled officially ineligible to apply for eligibility reinstatement.

The thing that has always stuck out in my mind regarding the Wiseman story is irregardless of the NCAA violation, Hardaway and the Wisemans had to know they were breaking the high school rules. There is no world where a public high school coach can pay for a player's family to move into his/her district. Even the most outspoken voices about paying the players or hating the NCAA would not want public high schools allowed to recruit and compensate players. There is a massive trickle down impact on communities and opportunities lost for local student athletes.

last year I was on record on LG and everywhere that WVU was ranked too high in the pre season @ #13. That was before we lost Sagaba Konate and Beetle Bolden to injuries and literally ended the season with zero opening game starters on the roster....the season was a disaster. This year most publications listed WVU in the 50's or lower, and once again they are very wrong. This WVU team is easily a Top 25 team with mountains of upside.

Incoming 5 Star McDonalds All American Oscar Tshiebwe is a beast with a motor like I have never seen. He had 20 Points and 17 Rebounds against Pitt this weekend, and made it look easy. Sophomores Derek Culver and Emmit Matthews are clearly NBA talents, and are surrounded by solid role players 10-12 players deep. This team should be a Sweet 16 type team this year....with potential higher expectations in future seasons. At some point the media will finally recognize what is clear to me.....

better late than never....

Today the NCAA ruled University of Arkansas transfer Gabe Osabuohien immediately eligible at WVU! The Junior 6'8" Combo Forward is known for his versatile defense, and fills the only real void on this WVU roster....combo forward depth. Many assumed the waiver was not coming since it did not arrive before the season began.

The committee no longer uses RPI, but I still find the metric useful throughout the season....and on 11/30, WVU is #1 in the country in RPI....

Hey Don,... thoughts on Dru Smith? I really liked him a lot at Evansville a couple years ago. Transferred to Mizzou. Really just feels like an NBA level talent. Efficient, heady, crazy hand-eye coordination, and gets into guys defensively.

I honestly have not really watched much of him. He is the PG that has or at one time had the Jheri curl?
