OK, who defines the hollywood tough guy? Personal favorites:

Lee Marvin
Charles Bronson
Clint Eastwood
Humphrey Bogart
Steve McQueen

Bronson springs to mind.

To me McQueen and Bogey define "cool" rather than "tough."

I think of both as both.

It's a tossup between Marvin and Bronson for me. I will say that Clint has one of the most menacing stares though...

Have you seen "Play It Again, Sam" where Woody Allen gets dating advice from the ghost of Bogey?

That list is bogus without the guy that's so tough that he doesn't do "push ups," he "pushes the Earth down".

sly with rambo and rocky deserves mention.

Nothing is over! Nothing! You just don't turn it off! It wasn't my war! You asked me, I didn't ask you! And I did what I had to do to win! But somebody wouldn't let us win! And I come back to the world and I see all those maggots at the airport, protesting me, spitting. Calling me baby killer and all kinds of vile crap! Who are they to protest me? Who are they? Unless they've been me and been there and know what the hell they're yelling about!

Jim Kelly had his dojo on Crenshaw between MLK and Vernon. It was almost directly across the street from our dojo. My teacher was Steve Sanders, who was the dude Kelly handed over the dojo to when his character in Enter the Dragon left on his trip.

We were rivals and used to fight each other in tournaments all over Southern Cal back in the day. One time we busted over there and started a fight in their place. Got suspended for a month as I recall. Yeah, he was a bad ass.

I'd call Jim Brown a tough guy.
