Lakers were just settling for jumpers this whole game. This game reminded me of the Lakers playing the Suns in the 06-07 season. Kobe takes over and makes a run for the Lakers and everyone is standing around. I did not see any offense ran. Just everyone settling for jumpers.

Phil looks pissed. But he has to be pleased with the shape the Lakers are in. These games would be won with Bynum shut down the layups. I think he's more mad that Nash and Amare didn't play.

that´s a great tool we hardly use this year and I too hope we´re reserving it ´til the playoffs. Good night everyone!

Unless your in the east cost we are far away from the night and that is not a good thing for the mods lol

Another good point this team doesn't run the offense well I notice that. The 3peat team ran the triangle very well not the same with this team. Today they did a horrible job but give some credit to the Suns( and the refs) also our defense sucked too.

sure kobe was making 47% of his shots but his shots were mostly long contested jump shots. while gasol was making over 60% of his inside the paint against Shaq who we should've attacked constantly.

Is this based on the boxscore or what? Very few of Gasol's buckets were on Shaq.

that is why i laugh at people use boxscore to talk crap

The Lakers regrouped quite nicely on their last 2 game losing streaks. First one they lost to MIA and ORL in December, they went on to beat NO and BOS the following week. Then when they lost to SA and ORL in January, they went on to beat CLE and SA the following the week. I expect them to bounce back again and if they actually come out to play, they should be able to take care of the next 2 games at home (MEM and MIN). Given the Lakers bad track record at the Rose Garden, I'm not as hopeful about that game but it would be a quality win and hopefully take them out of this mini-slump.

No need to panic guys, Phoenix played very well tonight.

They had plenty of reasons to come out with this motivation, we beat them three times this season already they didn't want to get swept for the season series.
Same thing for the Boston and Detroit game. The Pistons didn't want to get swept for the season series.

48-12 NBA Best STILL and were coming home to Staples Center to play the Grizzlies and Wolves.

We still gotta alot of reasons to hold our heads up high fellas. Let's move on.

That reverse layup Kobe had with the hang time was NICE!!

Reminded me of MJ switch hands mid air in 91 Finals.

Boston lost, take the positive anyway I can but wasn't this like the 4th game in 6 days or something?

Wait until next Monday when the Lakers finally have more then a day off between games because they don't play next weekend thank god. I just think this team needs more then a days break between games and I will never understand why the schedule was made so the Lakers had all those breaks at the beginning of the season and not now.

Kobe Tidbits:

-Too many mental mistakes today.

-Agrees with Phil that they shouldn't have called a time out after he got hit in the mouth (after which, the Suns went on a 13-0 run).

-(Q: Do you think you'll face the Suns in the 1st round of the playoffs?)Hopes so, it will be a fun match up.

- (Q: Shaq back to his old form?) No, not quite, but playing extremely well. Not much Pau could do since Shaq has 200 pounds on him and Shaq took advantage of him.

-Most important is defense and effort. Gave them too many opportunities.

-Laughed at the notion of a "two game funk". Everyone goes through fatigue (just like Boston did) and they need to snap out of it and play consisently with effort and energy.

When Luke is in, it's 4 v 5 on defense & offense. When I see him even go for a rebound, he always scissor kicks his jump, to hide the fact that he has a 1 inch vertical - at best. He plays hot potato on offense, and the defense always sags off him. Look at Grant Hill and Matt Barnes stats today - they see Luke and their eyes light up. Sasha and Farmar have been sucking too, but at least they have some on nights and potential (Sasha - shooting, Farmar - speed). Luke is a piece of crap

But I trust GTL's opinion more than almost everyone on here, so if he's unhappy with Kobe today, then so am I.

For those of you attacking GTL, he's one of the biggest Kobe suppoters on here.

I, for one, applaud the guy to be able to make paragraph long posts about how Kobe > MJ (although I'm not quite there yet) and then be able to make posts like he did in here.

Thanks GTL for your absolute awesomeness! We could use more posters like you who just spit that realness.

I think that when you watch the game you will realize that Kobe wasn't the problem. He was below average in the first half, but really brought it in the second, offensively and defensively.

I only caught a little of Phil's interview... basically the same as Kobe in that they played without energy, etc. When asked about the free throw discrepancy, he said it's to be expected on the road.

It looks like the rest of the team has gotten the hell outta dodge, so I'm out for today.
