I feel like we will have a different kind of energy.
Home Game, Bynum's news, last few games in the regular season, bench wants to find its groove back, and.....its Ron Artest....who talked trash in the last game.

Never scared of Rockets....love the match up

News and some Facts:
The Lakers, who are in the race with East-leading Cleveland for the league's best record, are within one victory of reaching the 60-win mark for the first time since the 1999-2000 team went 67-15.

The Lakers now play five of their final seven games at home, where they've won eight of nine.

Kobe Bryant is averaging 31.0 points against the Rockets and the Lakers' defense has done a stellar job of shutting down Houston's top scoring threats.

When the Rockets faced the Lakers last month, Kobe Bryant scored 18 of his 37 points in the fourth quarter and mocked Ron Artest for trash-talking down the stretch. Artest described their competition as fun and said on Thursday that it won’t go beyond that when the teams meet tonight.

After losing their first season series to Houston since 1996-97 last season, the Lakers are trying to sweep the Rockets for the first time since winning all four games in 2001-02.

Los Angeles is averaging 106.0 points on 51.2 percent shooting in winning the first three meetings of the season with Houston. The Lakers have had little trouble in those games, outscoring the Rockets by an average of 13.3 points.

The Rockets (48-27) are fourth in the highly competitive West, where the second through seventh seeds are separated by just a few games.

Houston is now 18-19 as the visitor this season.

Downplaying Artest-Kobe
As much as Rockets coach Rick Adelman does not want Ron Artest to let himself get involved with a personal duel with the Lakers’ Kobe Bryant, he said that Artest might spend just as much time defending Lamar Odom, who missed the last game between the teams , anyway.
“It’s not about him and Kobe,” Adelman said. “It’s about us, how we’re going to play. You can’t get locked up in him against Kobe.
“A lot of times, he won’t even be matched up with Kobe. Ron will play (Odom) quite a bit, I would think, because he’s our best defender on him.”
Good luck charm
The Rockets returned to the Clippers’ practice facility for Thursday’s workout, having successfully gone from their previous practice there to a win the next night.
“The last time here we just had a bad loss against the Lakers and we practiced here before a flight to Phoenix,” Yao Ming said. “Now we changed it. We had a loss in Phoenix and now we came here and will play the Lakers tomorrow.
“Hopefully, this will be our lucky place and we can turn it around like last time.”

Let's hope it's like the first game between the two this season that was at Staples.

i've taken the day off at work today in order to be able to watch this game along with the cavs and magic game. An ideal friday for me would be a lakers blow out of the rockets and a narrow win by the magic over the cavs. and guess what were back in the race with the "easier" schedule ahead of us.

Forum Blue & Gold:

Quote:
This time around Battier will probably stay on Kobe the whole game, with Artest guarding him when Shane’s out. One side effect will be Artest will be guarding Ariza/Walton, limiting their open looks, but leaving them the opportunity for quick drives as Ron has lost a step.

For the Rockets, Yao needs to be fed often and he has to be decisive. The second unit needs to run, and run some more, and in half-court attack the basket. If the Rocket second unit outplays the Lakers’, the Laker starters will see alot of time and hopefully-for Rocket fans-this will result in dead legs in crunch time.

The Lakers need to harass Yao and stay in the passing lanes. Stay focused, run the offense. The starting 5 should run every chance they get as there is a speed advantage everywhere except PG. The bench has to be competitive.

The bolded quote gets me to thinking about our team speed. On most nights, our team speed is equal to or much better than every team we play. I just think we should pick our spots when we do it. This leads me to my thoughts on Yao. At 7'5" and over 300 pounds, he is too slow defensively to keep up with Pau or LO. I expect him to be worn down by the 4th quarter.
