Say the Clippers win the lottery and they use the pick on Griffin. How good a team would they be if they made a couple of more moves? Should they try to trade Zach Randolph for Tracey McGrady or Vince Carter? Or use Chris Kaman and Al Thronton to land a better 3? They would need to use their exemption to sign a significant bench player or 2 also.

Another big? Sounds like the Clippers
I'm not sure what the Clippers should do if they win the lottery, maybe trade down their pick to get rid of some contracts, the assumption of clearing cap space or signing a McGrady is for the 2010 plan, but I don't see many of the major players wanting to play for the Clippers, so they're pretty much screwed |

Didn't look that way when he was averaging 20-10 when Kareem was an assistant coach...

That's true but he really only had one full solid season, and even then he was only averaging 11, 9 and 2 blocks. The rest of his time in the league were either injury plagued years or total letdowns. Based on this, one has to say that the Clipps would have been better off drafting someone else at 1 in 98. |

This link indicates Olowokandi never was close to 20-10.
Not sure where you're getting that from.
I remember Kareem saying the guy wouldn't listen to him.
Oh, and he shot 43% for his career....a center...43%.... _________________

Kandi didn't even listen for the entire season, and yes, the inconsistency was there.
But at least halfway and into the end of the season, you could see him tapping into his potential.
It even carried into the next season.

I even remember the Clipper announcers making a huge deal of this game, because he was primarily on Duncan and vice versa...still put up 26 and 17. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

As can be seen by his career record, this is a perfect example of why one game means absolutely nothing.
And back to the main point of my post, your claim of "averaging 20-10" is inconsistent with the facts. _________________

Fine I shall specify.
Under Kareem's tutelage, Olowokandi created expectations of being a 20-10 player, and tapped into his potential with several 20-10 games and multiple 15-10 averages with multiple swats.

If you like, but to indicate Olowkandi was anything but a gigantic disappointment as a player is wrong.
Despite what expectations there may have been. _________________

Of course he's been a huge disappointment.
That doesn't mean he didn't tap into his potential for a whopping 5 months of his career.
Unless you want to discredit what Kareem tried to do for him, his career, and the Clipper organization. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Not sure how much that had to do with Kareem, because Kandi had a bunch of similar games the year before too. |

They'll still suck no matter who they draft, they'll find a way to make this new supposed superstar into little more than a sucker. |

Being drafted by the Clippers is a death sentence.
For a team that seems to be in the lotto every year...what do they have to show for it?
2008: Eric Gordon (looking good)
2007: Al Thornton (looking good)
2005: Yaroslav Korolev
2004: Shaun Livingston
2003: Chris Kaman
2002: Chris Wilcox (the two players taken after this pick are all stars)
2001: Tyson Chandler (taken right before Pau Gasol)
2000: Darius Miles
1999: Lamar Odom
1998: Michael Olowokandi (#1 Pick, chosen over Dirk, Pierce, Jamison, Carter)
1997: Maurice Taylor
1996: Lorenzon Wright
1995: Antonio McDyess
There. I had to go back to 1995. That's 13 years of lottery picks before I found 1 All Star. Antonio McDyess made 1 All Star Team. He was a member of the Denver Nuggets. The Clippers are where rookies go to die. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

Eric Gordon sure looked good this past season. I think he was better than expected, especially playing on a team like the Clippers. The Clippers even seemed to get something out of Randolph (whenever he was healthy). I doubt they will ever change, but still you can see signs of life over there.... _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions! |

Thornton is still underrated. Hell, so is their center. _________________ Resident Car Nut.
