Chad Ford from ESPN along with many others commenting on the "Steal of the draft" and a hell of a week for the SAS - the only legit true challenge your very strong and talented LAL out WEST!

SAN ANTONIO
SPURS GRADE: A+
Round 1: None

Round 2: DeJuan Blair (37, obtained via Warriors and Suns), Jack McClinton (51, via Hornets and Raptors), Nando De Colo (53, via Rockets)

Analysis: The Spurs always seem to find a way to make a little into a lot. With no first-round picks they were still able to come away with some terrific players.

Blair, if his knees stay sturdy, is the steal of the draft. McClinton is a clone of Eddie House. And De Colo really impressed me with his point guard skills at the Eurocamp.

I think Blair can come in and help immediately on the boards and McClinton can be a nice scorer coming off the bench. Factor in the addition of Richard Jefferson on Tuesday, and the Spurs have had one heck of a week.

Meh.

If Drew can get back to the way he was playing before he got hurt (which I'm sure he will), I'm not worried about ANYbody.

Bring back Phil, LO, Ariza and Shannon and we're in GREAT position.

The Lakers are to young, to long, and to strong!

This is one of the reasons that Paris Hilton is rumored to be crazy about the Lakers!

The Spurs will not be threat unless Duncan can return to glory!

THE_SHOES is just not impressed...

Nightmare in Black and white? Are you talking about the 60's celtics and watching them on old-school TVs? Last I remember we are 4-2 against the Spurs this decade. This rivalry isn't even fair. Almost as bad with Sacramento.

RJ makes you better but most weren't impressed with your ability to challenge the Lakers (assuming we re-sign our free agents). 3 second rounders isn't going to change that.

Leave to guys like Chad Ford to get overly dramatic and over estimate. The Spurs picked a guy who has had 2 ACL surgeries before he even got to college. One of which, they think didnt correct the problem all the way. Couple that with the fact that the college season only has half the amount of games of an NBA season...not to mention Blair will be playing against men, not boys anymore and his knees may be shot by his 3rd season. Its funny when a guy like Chris Ford thinks every other GM in the NBA is a (bleep) and the only smart one is RC Buford in San Antonio. So the Spurs got a guy with 2 major knee surgeries in a very weak draft...A+ for sure....geez, where to they find these guys?

A guy who got passed over by 36 teams is the steal of the draft "if his knees stay sturdy"? Color me terrified.

Spurs are still the 3rd best team in the West behind us and Denver. They could get all the draft steals in the world and another Richard Jefferson but if Manu is not 100% that team is not contending.

The Blazers have similar hopes.

Not dissing the strong Lakers at all and your well deserved championship; but adding Jefferson the Spurs have been missing - 4 strong scorers on the floor and also allows for the ability to rest Manu more. Add some rebounding with Blair (he led the collegiate ranks in rebounding and dominated 7 footers routinely) and the Spurs are already a much stronger team than last year + Hill will continue to develop behind Parker.

If the Spurs add any more big men help the Spurs will definetely test LAL this year.

Most importanlty, the last week shows the Spurs are not standing pat and going forward salary cap be****D

See you in the playoffs.

If Richard Jefferson, a rookie with 2 ACL surgeries, and a shooting guard coming back off 2 season ending injuries is enough for Spurs fans to think they can challenge the Lakers, dont let me stand in the way. Dare to dream big.

Blair is gonna be a good player he can board and has some savy around the basket. But please tell me how he is any different than Malik Rose or Reggie Evans.

Blair was theft, Jefferson's ability to get to the line provides consistent scoring the Spurs need badly, and it's cool to see San Antonio re-emerge. However...Tim Duncan, Matt Bonner and DaJuan Blair adds up to about 1.7 bigs. Can bring Kurt Thomas back after a buyout, but his tires are pretty bald. Gooden didn't do much.

If the Spurs are willing to use the full MLE and can land Sheed or Dyess then imo San Antonio is definitely a threat. If they think they can land Gortat, Orlando is probably letting Hedo go and Gortat is rfa. Also Oklahoma City has a ton of cap room, a gaping hole at center, and a big interest in Gortat.

If the Spurs aren't willing to use the full MLE and just want to nibble at the edges, well you get what you pay for. Maybe they can get Rasho back but Spurs fans well know the good and bad that would come with that. Best move imo would be to wait and see what Portland does and go after Frye if the Blazers let him go.

Europe to the rescue? Borousis just turned you down and signed a three year deal to stay at Olympiacos. Splitter isn't leaving.

Land a quality big then the Spurs are a threat. Until then, Jefferson and Blair are not enough.

So they have a shorter Oberto with a few good moves. okay So what. still not enough. still to short. i dont care what he does. he's not going to stop gasol, Lo, nor bynum. and thats the point. if you can't stop us. you can't beat us. because we can stop you in stretches. you cant win a 4 game series without some serious bias officiating and injuries. its not going to happen.

"am i scared" Spurs, just die already would you.
