This article made me finally sign up for an account after being an avid reader of LG for the last 3 years. A bit of history from from a Lakers fan that has been watching the Lakers over 40 years now.
Uptown you can call him, but there is only one Brown from Downtown and its not Julie . The name Downtown belongs to a guy that used to play in the 70's with the Seattle Supersonics, and he was one of the original downtown bombers before the they added the 3 point line.
His name was Freddie Brown and he'll always be the one and only guy we can call Downtown. Guys I can remember Freddie coming in the game with both feet sitting in a bucket of ice, and the Sonics being down 15 points or more to the Lakers, and Freddie would come off the bench and just start lighting us up like we weren't even on the court.
Downtown Freddie Brown was a long range shooter, and Uptown Shannon Brown......well it speaks for itself. This kid get so high off the ground on his dunks that he could probably take some time off up there and help Air Traffic Control at LAX land in a few planes on the runway

I'll pick "go-go gadget calf muscles" -- so completely preposterous it works for me. "Cannon" isn't bad but it's not on this list. "Dunk Master Flex" and "Human Pogo Stick" get honorable mention, the rest of the list is just flat out cheez wiz.

I'd bet you a kid nicknamed Dunk-Master Flex gets beat up way more than a kid nicknamed ShanWow.
Shannon + Wow = ShanWow forget about the stupid towel. Shannon makes you go WOW becasue of his dunks. It makes sense. Stupid, but makes sense nonetheless.
Dunk Master Flex would be cool if this were the 80's or if we all wore parachute pants or if Shannon was a guest star on the "Fresh Prince" _________________ Bears, Beets, Battlestar Galactica.

First ting I thought of was Funk Master Flex.... I think that's where the nickname was derived from...
As for a nickname... his Mama calls him Shannon, I'mma call him Shannon....
