PostPosted: Wed Dec 03, 2008 4:30 pm    Post subject: Sources: Warriors Already Regretting Corey Maggette Signing

Quote:
Corey Maggette is averaging 19.7 points per game, but his somewhat selfish play hasn't gone unnoticed by other players.

According to sources, after the final buzzer against Boston, Kevin Garnett turned to Maggette and shouted, "Way to get your numbers."

"He just puts his head down and goes to the basket," an Eastern Conference scout said. "He doesn't even look to pass."

Team sources tell SI that the Warriors are already regretting signing Maggette to a five-year, $50 million deal last offseason.

I'm sorry I know the thread is about Maggette but is there a bigger ass hole on the planet than Kevin Garnett? Everything he does annoys me.

It's sad what a little success can do to a person...

I thought it was weird when they signed him to that big contract. It was almost like the Warriors wanted to stick it to Baron and the Clippers, but Clippers didnt even want him back.

Regardless no other team was offering anything close to that contract. Corey was nearly gonna sign a MLE deal until the Warriors gave him that big contract. They outbid themselves.

I just love how KG went from being the most beloved non-Laker on this board to now one of the most hated.

Always thought he wasn't nearly as modest, nice and just a good old soldier like so many would have had you believe all those years in Minnesota. Ask Magic_Bryant, I was never a big fan of KG, mainly because I never bought the nice "I cry on TNT, because I can't win in Minny" act.

But game is game. Guy is one of the best defensive bigs in the game, imapct player on both ends as a #2 or 3 option, lethal. The Boston role for him is perfect. He is going to retire a HOF'er and a winner, no doubt.

Still good to see his act be exposed, finally. All it took was some winning and success.

The Warriors make some of the worst free agent signings ever.

When Baron left, Warriors fans were sad, but there was some glimmer of hope because they now had lots of cap space and a bunch of young players. Then the next day, BOOM, they sign Maggette to a fatty contract.

Maggette's terrible, no doubt. But I agree with others, every quote I read from Garnett these days infuriates me. And this is coming from a native Minnesotan, who always wanted KG to find success. My dad back home, a huge Wolves fan and formerly a huge Celtics fan, now cant stand Garnett or the Celtics because of his act.

Garnett's becoming like Skip Bayless: he has an opinion on everyone and all the opinions are ludicrous.

What did KG say that was so bad? "Way to get your numbers"??? If Maggette's selfish play cost his team the game, the statement was appropriate. Worse things than that get said on the basketball court all the time. I get that KG is a Celtic and everything, but come on...
