Wow, for 25 posts I still don't know where the best taquitos are in SoCal.

From this topic I have learned the following:

1. There exists or existed a place that made "Duck" Taquitos

2. That Ares24's mom make the best mexican food

3. That there may have been a "Best Tacos" thread but we can't find it

4. That Tacos San Pedro makes the best Flautas

I still don't know who makes the best tquitos or who has the best guacamole.

On a side note, back in the day there was this place in Alhambra on Valley Blvd. near Garfield called Angie's El Burrito. They had the best taquitos and the best beans for burritos ever!

But sadly the original owners moved it to San Dimas/Glendora and then they sold the place to someone else who ruined the original taquitos and beans. It's just not the same.

But I still would like to know...where are the Best Taquitos in SoCal????

For taquitos (a/k/a "flautas"), I say El Tepeyac in East LA and Ciros across the street from El Tepeyac.

Is a fluata really a taquito? Aren't they similar but different?

If it's rolled (like a flute) it's a flauta.

Exactly...taquitos are "small tacos"

Flautas are meat filled tortillas rolled into a flute shape and deep fried.

Well I guess I was wrong. I remember my mom making taquitos and flautas and they were 2 very different foodz. Actually, now that I think about it..... what about tamales? I know them as corn and meat/spices. My gf's father is dating a Salvi and salvi's apparently don't know tamales proper. They put rice and stuff in them

They do. I went over to their house and she said they were having tamales and I was like "Hell yes!". Then came money time and I forked into those things and it was corn, meat, rice, cilantro, onion and egg!

Christ!
