Here are the players likely to be on the Lakers’ roster next season. The NBA salary cap is $70 million; the Lakers’ total salaries are expected to be equal about $71 million, though some are non-guaranteed.

Roy Hibbert Can Land Big Payday with Big Season in Los Angeles
by Josh Benjamin - forbes.com

Roy Hibbert chose to exercise his $15.5 million player option prior to being traded from the Indiana Pacers to the Los Angeles Lakers this summer, and a strong season out west can equal a big payday for the 7-foot-2 center next year.

The previous three seasons were not kind to Hibbert, who signed a four-year, $58 million deal with the Pacers as a restricted free agent in 2012 after averaging career highs with 12.8 points, 8.8 rebounds and two blocks per game while also shooting a career best 50 percent from the field in the final year of his rookie contract. Based on his performance that season and the money the team subsequently gave him in his new deal, it looked as though he would become one of the Pacers’ franchise cornerstones and help the team regularly contend in the future.

But the wheels fell off the following season and never came back on. Over the next three years, Hibbert would average 11.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game, but would only shoot 44.5 percent from the field. For a 7-foot-2, 290 pound NBA center, those numbers are borderline unacceptable.

7 NBA Rookies Who Will Face Immediate Pressure to Succeed Next Season
by Jonathan Wasserman - bleacherreport.com

NBA rookies typically aren't expected to make significant impacts, but every year a chosen few enter the league with pressure to produce.

Blame the hype. Predraft buzz raised the bar for Kristaps Porzingis, a 19-year-old Latvian project New York Knick fans will now demand greatness from. D'Angelo Russell faces the inherent pressure of playing in Los Angeles and being the second pick in the draft.

Each prospect's projected role on his team as well as the spot on the board where he was picked factor into their expectations and presence here on this list.

While the majority of this year's rookies can afford quiet seasons, the following seven players have much less margin for error.

Nick Young Could Face a Reduced Role with the Los Angeles Lakers
by Bradford Evans - h4-entertainment.com

Nick Young endured an injury-ridden season last year with the Los Angeles Lakers. In the 2014-2015 season, the self-proclaimed “Swaggy P” played in just 42 games and averaged 13.6 points per game on 36% shooting from the field.

Young is known for taking ill-advised shots that sometimes go in and other times miss badly. He does not just take circus shots; he has shown he is a circus act. The former USC Trojan’s antics are not necessarily a bad thing. If there is one thing to be said about Swaggy P, people cannot deny that he has fun. Nick Young often garners attention by wearing outlandish outfits or by pranking and joking with teammates and fans alike.

However, with all the fun off the court, Young might not have too much fun on the court this season. The Lakers now have five trigger-happy guards who dominate the ball. Jordan Clarkson, D’Angelo Russell, Kobe Bryant, Lou Williams, and Nick Young are not afraid to shoot the ball no matter the circumstances. Shot selection could be poor, and the Lakers’ ball movement might stagnate because of it.

Lakers showing 76ers how rebuilding is done, in their mind
by Stuart London - buckscountycouriertimes.com

If things do not go well in Philadelphia for 76ers general manager Sam Hinkie, one place he can forget about seeking employment is the Los Angeles Lakers.

What does Lakers president Jeanie Buss think of his strategy of tanking? “Unforgiveable”

Is Los Angeles general manager Mitch Kupchak impressed with Hinkie’s strategies so far? “I still don’t know what (the Sixers) are doing,” he said in April.

Well, turnabout is fair play as a lot of people do not know what the Lakers are doing.

Is it a rebuild? Is it win now? Is it run around and try and impress the boss enough not to get fired? Darned if I know.

Lakers Summer League Notebook: Jabari Brown continues proving why he's worth the Lakers' time
by Drew Garrison - silverscreenandroll.com

Jabari Brown was a late addition to the Los Angeles Lakers' roster last season, playing his first game with the team in March. He logged a total of 19 games before the season came to an end. During that stretch he shot 37.1 percent from three-point range, earning himself a new contract to stick with the Lakers a bit longer.

His clear tangible talent, for now, is his three-point shooting. That the Lakers have struggled to find any consistent shooting for years has made him a sensible player to hold on to. Summer League was more of the same from Jabari, who scored a team-high 17.7 points per game through three games while shooting 38.9 percent from outside.

"I'm just trying to improve every game, just show that what I did at the end of the year wasn't a fluke," Brown said following his 19-point outing against the Dallas Mavericks. If his shooting numbers pan out over a larger sample size, Jabari might be a solid rotation option in the wings for the Lakers as he continues to develop. He's only 22, has good size for a shooting guard, and is an affordable prospect. Best, his shooting makes him a great fit with the Lakers' core.

Los Angeles Lakers Running Out of Time on Free Agency
by KOMFIE MANALO - gospelherald.com

The Los Angeles Lakers had a terrible year in the 2014-2015 NBA season and with Byron Scott coming back as head coach, the once dominant team which has won 16 championship is looking to improve its line up heading out of the summer league.

The Lakers team is looking for free agents that have yet to sign up, including JaVale McGee, Kevin Seraphin, Samuel Dalembert and Carlos Boozer. But with the next NBA Season fast-approaching, time is running out on then on free agency. While the Lakers have inked some few big signings, they have failed to sign up some veteran experience, like a key point guard and reserve front line.

It's hilarious how Hinkie has so much of the Philly media and fan base eating of his hands. They are even getting arrogant about their perpetual tankathon.
