This was easily Smush's best game of the season IMO (even though he put up better numbers vs. Phoenix, his +/- was low). Great to see him finally raise his game to a high level!

Is there any way to capture defensive impact? I agree Luke had a huge game tonight (highest hv), but Ronny was THE MAN!!!

Thanks, it's amazing how badly all the players +/- get sucked down when you've got Cook or Radmanovic at C.

You're welcome guys.

The coaching staff made the right moves in the frist two games, defering to Cook against Phoenix and Turiaf at Golden State.

But Cook in the middle up against Seattle clearly didn't work last night. With Andrew's fould trouble, they changed that idea and went with Ronny in the second half.

I have always conteded that +/- isn't really a true indicator of an individuals impact on the game, and is more of a team statistic. And this game clearly shows the matchup problems the Lakers had.

That is the main reason I include individual +/-. It is the only way I have of rating defense based on play-by-play data. Unless they indicated who was matched up on who...but in today's game of constant switching and more relaxed zone, that would be almost impossible.
