He is a decent defender and would make a great backup for Lopez. Zubac may be a bit cheaper, but he had looked very weak on defense. A backup center doesn't need to score, just play D and don't drop the ball off of your knees.

Withey's a third string guy anywhere. Can we use four centers or is the intention for Bryant to be waived ? Zubac needs time, but for the moment can shoot and pass, something of a nice thing to keep around Lonzo.

My point is that Zu isn't the asset that many seem to think he is. His biggest problem is that he just hasn't shown much as a defender. Heck, he had problems defending in summer league. Bryant showed energy, which is nice but he to is not much of a defender yet. If the Lakers want to contend for the playoffs, they have to acquire some resources that can play defense. KCP was a great start and Lopez is an OK defender inside. The other big guys just aren't good enough yet. Wither can play D. I'd also be fine if they brought back TRob because he hustles on D or even someone else. But Zu and Bryant are not the answer unless they get much better in the next three months.
