@LakerFilmRoom does Avery Bradley meet your requirement that the Lakers need a guard to be considered contenders?

@LakerFilmRoom
No. It's been a few years since Bradley's played well & I think he's a vet min signing at best. We're basically hoping he gets back to the player he was in 2015-16 in 2019-20. And I hope this doesn't take us out of the running for Iggy. Wish I could like this signing but I don't.

Tldr: we wasted our Room MLE. Becoming decreasingly confident in this "Rob is a genius" rumor.

1. I know he's discarding the Memphis sample size because it was small.
2. I know he's ignoring the Doc Rivers affect

What's the Doc Rivers effect? Why didn't it hurt Patrick Beverly?

And why wasn't he good in Detroit?

AB hated Doc's voice.
AB was decent in Detroit no?

Iggy is nice but not a reliable enough 3 pt shooter. All the new FA signings are above avg 3pt shooters.

Lakers needed another perimeter defender and someone who can shoot the 3.

If he can do anything else, then that's only a plus for the Lakers.

Literally the only PG on the roster than can do both.

He's our guy.

Caruso is better on both ends. Better three point shooting, better steal and block rate.

Concerned he's gonna get buried behind all guys coasting on their reputations from 3 years ago.

Absolutely not.

But I like the rotation.

Bradley will start.

Lol. You said he was the only guy who can shoot and defend. Caruso has better shooting, steal and block numbers. But can't argue with "absolutely not." 2015 is alive and well.

Memphis has 3 guys who I want: Iggy, Korver, Bradley

One down, 2 to go. And now, waiting on Iggy......

We only have one roster spot left, and yes, Iggy and Korver should've been the ones we waited on. Not Bradley.

Korver??? The guy is near 40 and plays no defense.

I value dprm and I remember he was an outlier. I saw him play defense and he’s smart defender. he does not gamble and usually staying in front. he’s more of on ball defender just like KCP. The difference is KCP can play good defense for the most part then commit a stupid foul gambling for steals.

I am digging this signing. He has not been on relevant team and been hurt. I have the feeling he’s gonna put it together for us and will pan out and will likely be paid.

He’s gonna win that starting gig.

Any three point shooting you get from Iggy is a bonus. He's not coveted for that skill. He's a solid defender, terrific passer, has a very high BBIQ to go along with a lot championship experience.

I would rather have him at the min and the Room saved for a better player (Iggy) than wasting it on Bradley. Korver still offers elite floor stretching for a 2nd unit.

he is not what we need in the sense of a ball handler who can create his own shot but he is def NEEDED.

I was worried about who we gonna put on Lou Williams, I got my answer. Give us Igoudala and Burke and we ready to go.

I have no choice but to hope he can be good again, but it's been 3 years. That's an inordinately long "slump."

Agreed.

Does Iggy even get bought out though? I'm starting to wonder if that is something Memphis is going to do. Why not just keep him and have him a mentor to the kids there. So either Rob knows that his old client won't be getting bought out, or that if he does, he'll accent the minimum.

Iggy will always show up when it matters. We can easily waive Daniels if we don’t have a roster spot.

Taking a wait and see approach. Memphis may want to trade but that doesn't mean they'll be able to. They certainly aren't willing to give up any assets to make that happen and aren't going to take back bad contracts either.

Even if it takes til mid-season, I can wait with the roster we've put together.

You don't want terrible defensive players on the floor just because they can shoot. That man offers literally nothing but shooting.

I like the signing. If we are going to get Iggy or Korver, it will be after buyouts, so they will come at vet min (if they indeed want to come to Lakers). So we won't need the Room Exception for either of them.

Might as well go ahead and use the Room Exception on Bradley. This also nicely adds to our stash of contracts that are ending in 2021, thereby making it more likely to recruit a top notch free agent that year.

I listen and follow LFR heavily. Like most of us. Also Cranjis. They are great. My question for either or anyone involved in the deep dive numbers, Bradley hasn’t been good but there is always room to get back to the level he was at. 28 years old. My question is simply, isn’t scheme and team fit and role a major part of these numbers? Basically our squad has the individual talent and personnel to be scary defensively. You’re not asking guys that aren’t capable, you’re asking guys to buy in. Bradley will be great

No offense but Bradley had by far the best season of his career in 2016-17. Yes he had two down years after being traded to Detroit, but he played great for Memphis to end the season.

Excellent Pickup! I think he'll be a great fit and Kudos to Pelinka! I think we're genuinely 2-3 deep at every position.

C - Cousins | McGee
F - Davis | Kuzma | Dudley
F - Lebron | KCP | THT
G - Green | Caruso | Daniels
G - Bradley | Rondo | Cook

Though in terms of rotation, I will play Caruso ahead of Rondo mostly through the regular season to preserve playoff Rondo.

I had the Clippers right there with us.. maybe slightly ahead because of questions at the PG position. Picking up Bradley answers those questions for me.. and I now feel we are ahead of the Clips!!!

Keep the last roster spot open in case another vet (maybe Iggy) gets released.
