THANK HEAVENS FOR ANOTHER SEASON OF BASKETBALL

I don't know about y'all, but this was a long painful summer as usual. It's technically not over yet but at least there's Pre-Season ball starting tonight.

As always with this thread, I just report the injuries. Comments are cool, but we'll leave the back-and-forth discussion to the other threads.

PRESEASON GAME #1 - LOS ANGELES LAKERS VS GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS - 10/5/19, 5pm pdt, Oracle - I mean - Chase Center

According to CBS Injury Report (which is often not great so I'm going to see what other sources are saying)

Talen Horton-Tucker - Foot - Questionable for start of season
Jared Dudley - Knee - Questionable for start of season
Kyle Kuzma - Foot - Questionable for start of season
DeMarcus Cousins - Knee - OUT FOR THE SEASON

Injuries from the Other Side

Kevon Looney - Hamstring - Questionable for start of season
Willie Cauley-Stein - Foot - Expected to be out until at least Nov 1
Klay Thompson - Knee - Expected to be out until at least Apr 2

GO LAKERS!

Sprained thumb, usually is a few weeks injury. Meaning AD would likely miss rest of PS and start of RS.

Sucks. If this is the case.

I sprained my thumb in basketball in the summer but was still able to play a few days later. It was very painful and I was limited. I was not able to be myself for a few weeks. As a NBA player, I think he could probably return sooner, but with AD it is better we wait out.

I'd guess at least 2 weeks he is out.

Silver lining is that it's not below the waist - He'll be able to maintain conditioning until it heals up.

KUZ

Per Ohm

Frank Vogel said Kyle Kuzma will be "day-by-day" moving forward to see how his foot reacts to more work when asked about his status for the season opener. es.pn/2oHiFaf

To which someone replied that they’ve been saying that about KUZ since the injury. Trudell said this, still awaiting follow up tweet;

Vogel said Kyle Kuzma (stress reaction, ankle) has been cleared for non-contact activities. Meanwhile, he said the team is awaiting medical information on Anthony Davis (thumb).

THEY'RE BEING ANNOYINGLY VAGUE ABOUT ANTHONY DAVIS

Per Brad Turner

Vogel said the Lakers are still collecting all the medical information on Anthony Davis, who suffered a sprained right thumb in China, to make a final evaluation on Davis.

https://twitter.com/ba_turner/status/1183931611236093953?s=21

So this was actually said in the pre-game which happened a bit ago. They showed the video on Access SportsNet and I watched the whole show waiting for a decisive update but it didn’t happen. As of now AD is presumed to have a Level 1 sprain at which point he would be fine by the season opener. But none of our people are willing to say that officially as yet. They’re all hedging pending “further information”

Maybe I missed it, but I don't remember them saying Kuz was "day to day" at any point.

LOOKIN LIKE AD MIGHT PLAY TOMORROW

Per Trudell

Davis said the plan is for him to play tomorrow night, but they’ll monitor how his thumb feels before making the determination pregame. He felt fine today, though, clearly a good sign.

https://twitter.com/lakersreporter/status/1184213713487687680?s=21

Anthony Davis said he knew his thumb was “just a jam” and he completed the full practice: “It felt fine at practice today.”
