Mofos still lamenting about the past. We have a contender and one of the best young players in the game. Where's that frozen chick when you need her.
Let it go. |

First preseason in and I have to give praise to how this team is built.
AD > Ball, Bi, Hart and draft pick
AB def made me not miss Ball much
Green n Daniel made me smile not seeing that 3 bricks last year
Caruso looks like a player NO should have asked for
Vogel seems to know how to teach
McGee n Dwight is a great 1-2 in center until AD close
We still have not seen Kuz, Cook, THT and Dudley can bring
Looking like a very fun successful year baring any major injuries |

I liked what he was doing BEFORE last night. Now I LOVE it.
AD may not be a once-in-a-generation player, but he is definitely MVP caliber. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns". |

And who gave that crap deal that forced our hand on Russell? Had Mitch been less of a yes man maybe he’s still here and we have a young core surrounding lebron and AD. At the very least maybe we have a couple young pieces left over. |
No hand was forced other than Byron’s butt hurtness. We didn’t have to trade DLO and Mozgov, that was Magic showing his inexperience and protecting his buddy Byron. |
We didn’t have to give an abysmal deal to Mozgov who was 10mpg backup for the large portion of his career either. Magic was inexperienced,... what was Mitch’s? Asleep at the wheel? |

Not hard to do when daddy West sets him up for success. What happened when Jerry wasn’t there to ALREADY have a Kobe/Shaq tandem in place or when Jerry wasn’t there to gift him a Pau Gasol. Fair enough he landed us CP3 ANd Dwight. MAJOR props for that. He got screwed out of it though. He TRIED to fix it with Nash/Howard. But we clearly gave up too much and he did little to nothing after that. And you can’t discredit the fact he wasted a good chunk of Kobes prime playing around with the Chucky Atkins and Chris Minms of the world.
I give Mitch credit for what he did,.. but you act like he did no wrong and it’s embarrassing |

As I posted, learn some history. West was long gone from Memphis when we traded for Pau, he had nothing to do with that trade. West had nothing to do with trading Rice for Grant which got us another title. Those are facts, not the make believe that you posted. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

I was literally just thinking about this thread this morning and thinking about doing the same exact thing.
Rob is not getting enough credit for all these signings. Keep in mind he signed all these dudes AFTER Kawhi strung us along for a week. |

Rob is the Man. He's done an outstanding job building this team not only in the margins but in between the lines. Maybe he'll start to get some credit around here if/when we get Iguodala in the fold.

Rob got half the blame when Magic was making all the decisions. This year he made all the decisions and should get all the credit. There was a lot of stuff thrown his way that he didn’t deserve. He’s a very smart guy and it shows. Dumb people don’t graduate from Duke Law School, then become the agent for the best basketball player in the world. |

Ventura,
I agree with you on a lot of what you’re saying about Mitch. He deserves a lot of credit for the post Jerry teams. The problem for him was that Jimmy came along and had a negative influence on his decision making. The Mozgov and Deng signings were among the worst in league history, neither player accomplished anything, anywhere, after they were exorbitantly rewarded by the Lakers. Mitch went along with it as either a believer, or a good solider. Those transactions alone warranted termination.
As it worked out, Magic was just an intermediate change, but a necessary one. Along with him came Pelinka, who was smart, but inexperienced. In the two years they worked together he gained experience and insight. Now the benefits are clear, he’s a smart guy and a good GM. Be happy for the team, it’s been a while. |

The DLO/Mosgov deal was such a smart deal. Regardless of what folks think, it started the rebuilding process and tear down the crap position that Mitch and Jim Buss got us into. |

Lol "such a smart deal." The rebuilding process was already underway. We already had Ingram and we were able about to draft Lonzo. It freed up cap space used to resign KCP and pay Rondo 9 million. Yeah, it was a genius deal. Imagine if we didn't have those two last year.
Just because LeBron and AD are here doesn't make it a good trade. They should be playing with an even better team. |

Rob has been a players GM and these days you need that. It’s really complicated to give all the credit to one guy especially when LB is here playing part GM with Rich in the background. But hell yeah he deserve credit!!! Props to Rob. I like how he included his star players in the offseason. |

You know the last 3 games could have gone either way, and if it hadn't gone our way, the mood around here would be different. So this doesn't cloud my judgement, actually nothing short of a championship will ever make me forget that Maginka were inefficient with their asset management. That's just the truth. We may win the title, and that would still be the truth, but it would be forgettable. If we don't get a chip, then it's not forgettable. |

dont blame Mitch, he was under Jim and backed him up as his direct report. That's old school. Mitch wasn't looking to take over (compared to Phil for example). He did what he could with Jim's decisions/opinions.
Back on topic, great job for a guy with no xp. only a couple years removed from Jim and he doesn't think he needs to remove Jeanie to get it done.
HAHAHA... love it.
But need to move on from history. Comparing to Jim Buss era sets the bar way too low. Let's see if they can compare to the repeat/threepeat now. _________________ KOBE!!! |

If the Lakers get a championship or two and have AD through his entire prime it's absolutely worth it imo without question.
If the Lakers do not win any championships and many of those pieces we traded go on to have great careers then he will be deserving of any criticism since he took that huge gamble and lost but it's still a massive unknown right now to me at least. |

Part of their haste and shedding of salary had to do with the 3 super star vision. Had they landed Kawhi or Kyrie, then I wouldn't be harping too much about the inefficient asset management. But the irony is this... if this squad wins the title, it is so much sweeter than to have done it by stacking the deck with Kawhi. It would be amazing and so sweet that, like I said, would make the inefficient asset management forgettable, and forgiven. |
