Houston was up 5 late and the Clippers made back-to-back 3's for the lead. On wide-open looks. One thing I like about the Lakers--which clearly shows how Vogel knows defensive strategy--is that the Lakers wall off the 3-point line in these situations. The Lakers will essentially concede a drive to the basket and they guard the 3-point line hard. If the opponent gets by a Laker on a drive, no one helps and the guy who was beaten just tries to make the recovery block or contest, and if they can't, oh well, they allow the 2 points. The strategy is clearly to not allow baskets in multiples of 3. This applies whether we're up 3, 4, 5, doesn't matter. It's very, very smart strategy.
Houston didn't do anything like that tonight. Most teams don't. |

Damn, I heard that Ojeleye is strong, and now I believe. Kemba head down with momentum when towards his stomach. I think a normal human being would have stumbled back too, but not Ojeleye, and Kemba needed a neck brace and carted off the court. WOW. |

Doncic now that he has Porzingis to space the floor for him, board and defend inside is even more lethal. Dallas basically got two major upgrades this year.
They got Luka go from an all-star level to a superstar level in year 2.
They flipped a backup PG (DSJ) for an all-star level 2-way stretch big to go with year 2 superstar version Luka.
Porzingis isn't even playing well on offense yet, his main value is the defense and 3 point shooting right now. He is still probably a season away from showing what he is really capable of with Luka. If they do some smart offseason moves next summer and KP has a full season of play behind him, next year they will be a major major problem.
Dallas is how you do a re-build through the draft. 1) You make sure the guy you drafted is actually a superstar/carry the franchise level player. 2) Whatever draft assets you have or players you drafted who do not fit into #1, you move for an all-star level in prime player who complements your #1 player. They basically may have a younger version of Lebron and AD, or a different version of it in a year or so. And they have capspace in coming years to keep adding. |

12 people passed on Kobe too. 14 passed on Kawhi. The Spurs knew talent. Jerry West knew talent. Dallas has an eye for talent. See how quick they jumped on Porzingis via trade? See how they traded up to get Luka? They know what they're doing, as much as I don't like Mark Cuban or the Mavs, dating back to the Don Nelson era. I have never liked them, but I concede when a franchise makes great moves. Them trading DSJ and two low 1st round picks for KP was great. Trading up for Luka was even greater. |

49 pts Lavine 13-17 threes, including the last three to win the game, which they had to force a turnover in order for Lavine to hit that three. That is an amazing icing on the cake. What a freaking game for him. |

They were down what 7 or 8 with 30 seconds to go and won? Craziness. |

Embiid plays 32 minutes and scores 0 points.
0 for 11 FG, 0 for 4 from 3 and 0 for 3 from the line... |

Makes you appreciate how monumental Kareem's streak was for consecutive games in double digits. I'll go to my line again: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the most underappreciated legendarily great athlete in the history of sports. Not just basketball. Sports. |

I don't understand how that's even possible for such a dominant big man. |

Really shocked how well Miami is playing overall this season........
Outside of Butler, that team individually is on the lower end of the league.
Also, teams like the Wolves and Suns have played extremely well (however, seems to be temporary).....
Nets + Kyrie doesn't seem to be working out (right now) and this is taking a huge hit on Kyrie's legacy. This season's team is actually better talent wise than previous season, but they seem to be playing like garbage.
Luka be MVP balling this year... Imagine if the Kings or Suns actually drafted this kid. |

Said this after the game we played them. This is the next dominant duo if Luka keeps developing and KP comes out strong next season. Dallas has capspace and if they add some quality pieces around them, watch out. Right now KP is still going to need a year to get his rhythm back and play a NBA season again. He will give you 18-20, some D and boards. Next year, KP should be able to be giving you more than that, and get his game back on offense. Factor Luka is only getting better, if Dallas adds some quality defensive 3nD guys around them, the West is theirs for the next few years, especially after Lebron and Kawhi hit decline in a few years. |

yeah, Luka gonna be on rookie contract for couple years, if they get a star wing McCollum/Beal or even Wiggins, watch out |
