Lakers are at a crossroad. They have to choose between chasing a championship with Lebron or rebuilding without Lebron. My preference is to go for a championship and surround Lebron with shooters.

Currently, Lakers are slightly short of a max slot due to cap hold for 4th pick, which includes releasing all FA cap holds. Assuming Lakers are able to get Kyrie or Kemba this Summer, they should consider trading Ball for cap relief and more draft assets. Ball isn't an ideal fit next to Lebron due to his lack of shooting.

Lakers trade Ball, Wagner, Bonga to Bulls for 7th pick and 2020 1st round pick. This clears enough salary cap to sign a max FA and maintain Reggie Bullock's cap hold. I think maintaining Bullock's cap hold is important because we can use him in a sign and trade to get a 3rd star or resign him.

A 3 team option between Lakers, Bulls, and Suns might also be possible to achieve same goals (room to sign max FA and maintain Bullock's cap hold).

Lakers trade Ball, Bonga to Bulls for 7th pick and 2020 1st round pick.

Lakers trade 4th pick and Wagner to Suns for 6th pick and 2020 1st round pick (Suns have option to take on Kris Dunn from Bulls).

With 2 draft picks in the top 7, Lakers can sign a wing player (Hunter, Culver, Reddish) and a PG (Garland, White). 3 point shooting will be improved with these players. They also get additional 1st round pick(s) in 2020 to use in trades and maintain Bullock's cap hold to resign or use in a trade.

If the team decides to rebuild by trading Lebron, they should simply maximize the return with draft capital. A trade with Clippers makes sense and might make all parties happy. Lebron for Shai, Clippers 2020 1st round draft pick, Miami 2021 1st round draft pick, and Danilo (expiring contract to match salaries), plus other fillers to match contracts. Lebron stays in LA.

With all the talk for AD joining the Lebron show. Here's twister... Trade Lebron to New Orleans. Let them play together there. We get the #1 pick in Zion. Personally I don't think Zion will be Hall of fame caliber player but he will be good - All Star.

Trade BI and the #4 to Memphis for Ja Morant rights. I think Ja Morant will be the Hall of Famer in this draft.

Trade Zo to Chicago for De'Andre Hunter rights.

Now for FA:
Priority #1 to go after: Kawhi or KD
IF not then go after JBulter, MMorris, KThompson in this order
FA fillers: Marjanovic, Ariza, Aminu in this order

Team if unable to get Kawhi or KD
PG - JHart / JMorant
SG - JButler / LStephenson (resign)
SF - KKuzma / DHunter
PF - Zion / MMorris / MWagner
C - McGee (resign) / Marjanovic / Zubac (bring him back and apologize for trading him in the first place lol)

I think they should chase the championship with Lebron.

OK, I wanted to have some fun with the notion that Jeanie would actually entertain the notion:

Lakers trade LeBron ($37.4mil) to the Clippers for Gallinari, Lou Williams, Harrell and a (2019-20) First Round Pick (approx. $37mil), money matches and both teams have Cap space in case it is slightly off..

LeBron gets to stay in So. Cal.

Clippers do it as they can still go after 2 Star FA's, including Irving, who wants to leave Boston..

Then the Lakers sign Kawhi (who wants to play in LA, but NOT with LeBron) and Kemba Walker.

Then the Lakers package Gallinari, Ball, Hart, Lakers (2019) First round pick and the Clippers (2020) First round pick for Anthony Davis.

Lineup:
PG: Kemba, Caruso, Bonga
SG: Ingram, Lou Williams, Jones
SF: Kawhi, Bullock
PF: Davis, Kuz, Wagner, Johnathon Williams
C: Harrell, McGee

Of course, this does not solve the Coaching, GM or Owner issues, but this would be a fun team to watch..

What a dumb idea for a trade...!
