BIG YIKES AT THE ALL STAR GAME

Embiid and Simmons pulled due to NBA Health and Safety Protocol

BIG YIKES

Per Woj

Sixers stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons were in contact with a barber who tested positive for COVID-19 in Philadelphia and are uncertain for today's All-Star Game, sources tell ESPN. Barber has been retested because of inconclusive initial test. They're waiting on results now.

https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1368594453427060739?s=21

Additional test has returned positive for the coronavirus on barber in contact with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, sources tell ESPN. League must make decision still, but it is highly unlikely Embiid and Simmons will be cleared to play today.

https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1368603235305598979?s=21

Per Shams

76ers All-Stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons have officially been ruled out of the All-Star Game due to contact tracing.

https://twitter.com/shamscharania/status/1368605337155039235?s=21

This quarantine process was applied per NBA’s normal strict protocols. Embiid and Simmons have not been in contact with other people in Atlanta due to league’s quarantine.

AND APPARENTLY WE BACK TALKIN BOUT PRACTICE

Per Oram (links to a theathletic.com article)

The Lakers are back at practice today after their first real break in more than a year. Were these eight days enough of a recharge to put them on a path to repeat?

LEBRON HAS NO INTEREST IN RESTING - BUT THE BREAK WAS BENEFICIAL

Per Oram

LeBron brushes off a question from @kylegoon about whether he is going to be more inclined to rest games in the second half of the schedule. "It's go time," LeBron says.

https://twitter.com/billoram/status/1370156839606702081?s=21

Per Trudell

LeBron on the break: “I feel that we definitely needed the break. Mentally, physically, spiritually … guys just needed to get away. Get away from the game, get away from it all, be with their families, loved ones and friends ... I think it’s going to benefit our team."

I don’t want to speculate but hmmm 🤔

CARUSO IS RET-TA-GO

Per Trudell

"I’m ready to go … I’m in a good place. A little break was all I really needed. After about 4, 5 days, I was ready to get back in the gym.”

They said they were re-examining him last night so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Per Buha

Anthony Davis has not been re-evaluated by the Lakers’ medical staff yet tonight. He’ll be evaluated in a few minutes, per Frank Vogel, and the team will provide an update postgame.

IN GAME INJURIES 3/12/21

Per Woike

Alex Caruso slipped and whacked the back of his head on the court. On the other end, Montrezl Harrell was limping and know he's holding his lower back.

https://twitter.com/danwoikesports/status/1370589286181998593?s=21

Per Trudell

Caruso hit the back of his head on the floor saving a loose ball (the possession resulted in a bucket). He was down for a bit, but got up during the time out to go take his place on the bench, before walking back to the locker room.

KOSTAS AND MARC

Not really a big surprise with Kostas because contact tracing protocol is usually like seven days so they miss three or so games. Marc is a worry I hope he’s feeling OK.

Per Oram

Frank Vogel said Marc Gasol and Kostas Antetokounmpo, the two Lakers out due to health and safety protocols, will miss at least the next two games.

AC OFFICIALLY IN CONCUSSION PROTOCOL

I’m late, the vaxx kinda wiped me out. Anyway

Per Trudell

Alex Caruso has been diagnosed with a mild concussion that occurred when he hit his head on the floor in the second quarter of Friday’s win against Indiana. As such, he’s in the NBA’s concussion protocol.

https://twitter.com/lakersreporter/status/1370953721811668997?s=21

Per McTen (some type of document at link)

The Lakers says Alex Caruso has a mild concussion from his slip and subsequent collision with the back of his head and the court on Friday

DUDLEY OUT OUT

This sucks. Get well soon Dudz.

Per Oram

Tough break for Jared Dudley, who the Lakers say has a right MCL tear. In addition to being captain of the (not real) All-Interview Team, he has been an invaluable presence in the Lakers locker room and LeBron has called him one of his favorite teammates ever.

AC APPARENTLY CONFIRMED OUT

Odd that he made the trip...

Per Goon (press release at link)

As @billoram just mentioned, tough shake for Jared Dudley, an interviewer’s dream who has done a lot of work behind the scenes.

https://twitter.com/kylegoon/status/1371257789645918208?s=21

(Short version of the press release; LeBron and Kuz PROBABLE. Kostas, Marc, Anthony, Jared, Alex - OUT.)

NO OTHER CHANGES unfortunately

Per Buha

Anthony Davis, Marc Gasol, Alex Caruso, Jared Dudley and Kostas Antetokounmpo are all out vs. Golden State, as expected, per Frank Vogel.

https://twitter.com/jovanbuha/status/1371628136421453827?s=21

Per McTen

Frank Vogel says Alex Caruso is out today and tomorrow because of the concussion protocol. He didn’t have an update to provide on Marc Gasol, who will also miss the back-to-back because of the league’s health and safety protocols.

https://twitter.com/mcten/status/1371628261361340419?s=21

Per Buha

Frank Vogel says “nothing has changed” with Anthony Davis’ timetable and that he’ll still be re-evaluated in two weeks.

VOGEL ON DUDLEY

Per Trudell

Frank Vogel on Jared Dudley’s knee injury: "You’re always disappointed when one of your guys goes down … just hoping he has as speedy a recovery as possible."

https://twitter.com/lakersreporter/status/1371629220531556354?s=21

Vogel added this on @JaredDudley619: “His impact is invaluable to our culture … his glue in connecting guys … teaching guys, putting guys in the right spot … we expect that to be the same (while he’s injured).”
Earlier, Steve Kerr praised Dudley’s intelligene + sense of humor.
