Will be DNP once again in the next game once Drummond comes back.

Lakers cut Boston’s lead to 7 with Marc, but the moment he sits for Trez, Boston’s lead goes up to 20.

Not only did Marc Gasol dislocate his left pinkie finger tonight, it turns out X-rays revealed he also fractured it. He says he can still “hopefully” play on Saturday.

The injuries keep piling up. smh

Wow, fractured finger and still managed to squeak out some good productive numbers; I'm actually impressed!
It's amazing what a little motivation can do. If he keeps that mentality and gets healthy before the playoffs, trust me, teams are in trouble.

Bust out that Gasol / Trez line up now Frank! Now is the best time to try it out!

Harrell was disinterested, but Vogel keep Gasol on the bench who really wants to be on the floor even with a fractured finger.

Marc Gasol numbers since Andre Drummond joined (6 games):

Quote:
Points: 8.7

Rebounds: 4.8

Assists: 2.8

Blocks: 1.2

Field Goal: 61.7%

3-Point: 55.6%

Mins: 17.54

Plus/Minus: -2

Gasol observations are all his numbers have gone up, most notably points, field goal and 3-point percentages have seen a bigger jump.

Why doesn't he play? Is he actually more injured than we know? Or is it the beginning of locker room problems?

More like Vogel trying to make Trez and his -33 plus/minus happy.

Yeah, against Gobert especially Trezz looked like a legit g-leaguer on both ends. He is also a black hole at times and when he gets the ball and it doesn't come back out which is fine when he's feasting but not when he's clearly outmatched against bigger 5's. I don't even put that against him as a player because the coach should know this considering it's completely evident to fans/players league wide. Anytime Gobert was in there and Dre was on the bench it should have been Gasol imo.

Not saying Gasol needs to play heavy minutes but expecting Trezz to man the middle against legit centers is a disaster waiting to happen nearly every time especially without Lebron and AD out there to mask it.

Gasol has been playing great anytime he's gotten a chance lately and looks to be back in his pre-covid condition so not sure why Vogel is not even giving him minutes in at least matchups like this.

There's been several stretches lately especially where you put Gasol out there and our offense/defense just simply looks significantly better and more smooth. I really don't get it at this point and it's the only thing that's extremely frustrating about Vogel lately so it really does make me wonder if there's more going on behind the scenes.

I agree....I've been tough on Gasol but he has been playing better and when Trezz isn't doing a damn thing give Gasol some minutes.

Does that really help the Lakers? He is paid peanuts (just 1m more than an empty slot) so it's not as if his departure gets cap relief.
Meanwhile having him as a bench/situational option does gain something because playmaking stretch 5's are rare, and he's in the top 10 shooting-wise (centers) even at his age.

If Vogel actually plays him. He seems to be of the mindset that if Drummond plays and isn't hurt, Gasol is not allowed to see the court.

If there is a 1st round matchup with Jokic, Gasol will be needed.

If there is a 2nd round series against Utah, Gasol will be needed.

I hope Frank sees it...

I hope Vogel is giving Trez minutes to keep him happy so when playoff comes he can bench Trez and give other teams a beating with the right match up.

The Gasol we've seen since Andre came here. That's the Gasol we needed all year. Hopefully he stays ready and engaged. Cause there will be matchups in the playoffs where he is our best option at C outside AD.

THIS.

However, Vogel seems to have this mindset that it's either or for Gasol and Trez. If he plays Trez, then no Gasol. If he plays Gasol, then no Trez. So unless Vogel can play them both, I don't think Trez will appreciate getting a DNP like Dwight/McGee last year in the playoffs.

What's frustrating is that Lakers now have a fully motivated Marc Gasol who has a fire lit ever since Drummond came in that he's stepped up his whole game while playing fewer mins. And instead of the Lakers capitalizing on this new found fire and motivation, they just sit him on the bench.
