Lakers vs Clippers 1st round matchup?
It’s the one I wanted.
7 laker home games
I'll take it
Pretty much even though when healthy we were dominant on the road
I just think the pressure will be good early
For me, it depends when Bron comes back.. If he comes back really soon and we have 8-10 games with him then idc who we face in the first round including the Clips. I def. think it would benefit the Lakers more though to face them in the second or third round so we have some more time to get the Chemistry going for the new guys that weren't here last season.
Outside of the Clips there's realistically no team in the Western Conference that can remotely hang with a healthy Lakers team for a full series imo. There's a few teams with cute stories and great regular seasons but that's nothing new. I see matchup nightmares for those teams facing us, the Playoffs are a completely different beast.
Can’t face them in 3rd round. They don’t get there....hey ohhhhh
I like how you think sir and would not mind that happening yet againnnn at all
Looks like Pandemic P is rounding into his usual self preparing for the Playoffs tonight as well.
while they addressed their holes from last season, we went shiny object hunting.
Currently, nobody's post makes my eyes roll more than yours. Seems like you're more interested in being right, beating a dead horse, etc. Are you even a Lakers fan? Taking up Venturalakerfan's torch or something? That poster was constantly brooding too.
Lakers with the #1 defensive rating. Playoff P can’t hang with LeBron in the playoffs. LeBron doesn’t even play for real until after the all star break.

I'm raising my hand in support of VLF; he was a grump and a contrarian, a glass half empty guy and his opinions sometimes conflicted with mine. But what he was not was disrespectful or ill-spoken or ill-informed. He was often the target of open hostility, outright abuse and insults. I'd rather have VLF with his contrarian opinions than the out and out uncivil and sometimes trollish discourse of some of his opponents.

I agree. I was making the "brooding" comparison. VLF never got over how Jim and Mitch got ousted.
Clippers do have an advantage in the postseason. They’re the only team that with 15% indoor capacity has 100% of their actual fan base size in attendance. _________________ Author of James Harden and the Strip Club

Don't like the Clippers, but these are the kinds of calls that had it happened to us there'd be a 10 page thread right now. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Quote about players looking at PG as a vulnerable superstar...
Yeah this is a silly narrative. One that can be broken by one playoff run. From what I remember Jimmy was a cancer and a loser. Funny how things changed. People love to pile on guys that are down and although PG has done himself no favors...if people (including young nba players) don’t recognize just how good PG is...well then they won’t go very far in this league.
Btw looks like karma has come around after that run last year where we had to beat Blazers/Rockets/Nuggets/Heat to win a title. Might open with Clippers. Damn that’s unfortunate.

Runway I don’t know his history but he’s not wrong here. This is NOT a team we want to face in the first round especially since we are just getting healthy and trying to figure it out so close to the playoffs. I’ll take PHX/UTAH or whoever else in the West any day.
The key to beating the Clippers is these 3 things:
1) An above average Center- Clippers are vulnerable in the middle. Have been for a few seasons. Joker made Zubac look like an absolute fool out there. Boogie is now a stretcher not a banger, and Serge is MIA. Denver has this, Lakers have this too.
2) Athletic wings- PG can be mentally removed from games if you get in his grill. Same thing for the Clippers 3 point attack. If you have bigger, longer, and quick wings, you can slow down, if not nullify, Paul George and the Clippers 3 point storm shooting. Kawhi can't be stopped, but he tends to become less effective as the game wears on. Denver has this, the Lakers (assuming Lebron doesn't expend the effort) does not. This particular point is mostly why the Lakers are vulnerable to the Clippers.
3) Scoring pressure - The Clippers MO is to bury you early with 3 point storm shooting and establish a lead. To counter this, you have to have players that can shoot the 3 at a quality rate. Doesn't have to be as good as the Clippers, but at a good rate. Denver has this. Lakers don't have this consistently.
This is why Denver owns the Clippers, while the Clippers (dammit) own the Lakers.
