What if Dennis wants to walk?

What if both Dennis and Trez don’t wanna do S&T’s?

We would have #22, 2027 1st, ~5m mini MLE, bet mins

Plus could trade Kuz or KCP.

I think Lakers need to consider opportunistic THT trades if available. Salary filler would likely have to be Kuz and another 1st. Not sure if that’s enough to get a more dependable 3rd guy.

We should of brought Rondo and Dwight back. I see what they were think ing with Shroeder but it was a bad deal for us especially if we lose him in fa for nothing. I don't know what they were thinking with Harrell? It seems like it was just to stick it to the Clips but he was a bad fit from the start.

Have to get rid of these two, hopefully in sign and trade but probably wishful thinking.

Dennis S - sign and trade or get the hell out

Drummond- if he's cheep, keep for another year

Harrell - assuming he opts out, then he can go.

Caruso - obviously keep

Matthews - retire

Morris - gone

THT - Obviously keep. Top priority.

McClamore - gone

Dudley - gone

Just keep THT and Caruso basically, and only Drummond if he comes back cheep. The rest can go. Let's see what Pelinka can really do.

Caruso, THT, maybe McLemore. If Drummond wants to come back for peanuts and as a backup, fine. Everyone else can hit the road.

Also, trade Kuz and KCP for whomever. Get most of these bums off our team.

I don't look at it in a vacuum, as if anyone who leaves is easily replaceable. A lot depends on contract terms.

Hazzell -- love to have him opt in, because I think he'd be tradeable.

Drummond -- we probably won't offer him more than the minimum, and I'd love to have him as a bench player for that amount.

Caruso -- decent role player, so sure.

DS -- depends on contract terms. I don't love him, but if he walks, he won't be easy to replace.

Morris -- for the minimum, great backup

THT -- we'll keep him

Matthews, Dudley -- they have forks in their back

McLemore -- doesn't matter

THT and mclemore

I like Caruso but think he will be too expensive for what he brings

Dennis as a trade asset if possible

I bet a lot of teams will try to poach the Lakers' FAs this season and tempt with money, so hopefully we keep the ones we need below:

Schröder - free agent - There's a lot of pros and cons here. He's as advertised when the Lakers brought him in, sans that flukily high three point percentage last year with OKC. His quickness with and without the ball, feistiness and defense help give us an edge...and those are intangibles/skills you can't necessarily find or replace. He also drastically improved his foul drawing with us too, and helps us with the free throw percentage stuff after years of bad foul shooting. Cons - his temperament can be construed as competitiveness but can also be hotheadedness, but he learned from the best in CP there...but another thing is he feels like he's more of a self-server than a team-guy, in many respects. I think it's a bird rights trap situation--we traded for him. We can't find anyone in the open market as good as him, so... we might need to pay him. Again, you can kick the ball down the line because the guy has value, if you need to trade him. Of course, Schroder can make his own decision and spurn us for say New York, Miami, Toronto, wherever, if he's a jumper.

Drummond - free agent - I mean, the Lakers love him a lot more than 29 other teams and think they can mesh him into a winning system. But he faced the same fate as Dwight/Javale at the end--benching in the last game of the season. I know he's there to protect AD, and the Lakers might want a full season to rear him in, but his +/- flaws and inability to guard the perimeter drastically hinders his ability to impact winning. I'd pass, and I think if the Lakers give him anything more than 5mil they are bidding against themselves. Hey, let's swap him with Gorgui Dieng.

Harrell - He's obviously gone, opting out.

Caruso - I'm sure we'll find a way to keep him, hope he feels the way as he has ESP with Lebron, but the guy will have suitors (coughGoldenStatecough). If there's a way to break apart a championship team, you nip at the team's X Factors (or just proactively trade them away a la Danny Green, but I digress). I think he'll net $10mil+, and I hope Jeanie can pay up despite the first round exit, because he's hard to replace, and he greases the defensive wheels for our team.

Matthews - Eh...his shooting is a on the streaky side for sure, and his defense decent. He's just kind of a there vet for me, but he's had good defensive metrics for a while. He's expendable, provided we get a more consistent shooter/ballhandler ideally as a replacement. OK with him coming back as well, but after the defeat, I think we'll lose more of the expendable ones.

Morris - I think he's gone...he says he wants to retire a Laker, but the reality is he had one great Houston series, but is otherwise a streaky shooter who veers towards being a volume three point shooter (fake gravity). He kind of reminds me of the big man version of Austin Rivers...can bring toughness to the end of the bench, but the overarching impact isn't there, and we can make better use of his roster space.

Horton-Tucker - Yeah, we should really keep him. Look at our 80s-90s scoring offense because other than Schroder/LBJ we have no perimeter player who can get their own (what happened to Kuz here?). I have a feeling some team will poison pill him so they can pry him out of our hands, but we can make the call and hopefully we'll match. We need to have that good young player, and I'm fairly certain we'll keep him, as I'm sure he's happy here, the Klutch connection, etc.

McLemore - The game's a two-way street, so while we sorely needed McLemore's shooting (and gravity) in the worst way, I'm sure Vogel didn't trust his defense enough to elevate him over guys who can tread on both ends like Matthews. Troy Daniels, McLemore, we'll probably find another guy next year, if it isn't McLemore on a return vet min.

Dudley - Retiring.

Schröder - free agent Never looked like he found his role. I don't think he plans on staying.

Drummond - free agent The guy I'd love to keep and see what he could do in our system. If we had his Bird Rights, I'd give him Schroder's deal, but we don't and he's gone.

Harrell - *player option Good guy, didn't fit what we were doing. Gone.

Caruso - free agent Looks ripe to get overpaid. I don't see the Lakers giving him $10+ million annually, but I could see other teams doing so. Gone.

Matthews - free agent. Nice career. Enjoy retirement.

Morris - free agent If he comes back at/near the minimum, why not?

Horton-Tucker - free agent Lakers will match whatever offers he gets.

McLemore - free agent Bye.

Dudley - free agent Good dude. Probably coaching next year.

Sounds good. A couple of nit-picks.

Dudley likely won't return and all we'll have is the vet-min to spend, so if he wants to come back at the vet-min, why not for the 12th-13th spot?

McLemore - free agent Bye.

For a 10-th man shooter why not? He shot as well as pretty much any off-the-bench shooter Lakers have had e.g. Daniels/Cook. None of them play much defense, or they wouldn't be available cheap.

I'm thinking Wes wants to retire and McLemore will have better options.

Schröder - Back or sign and trade. We don't have the cap space to replace him

Drummond - Back, on a reasonable deal

Harrell - 60-40 gone

Caruso - Back

Matthews - Gone

Morris - 50-50

Horton-Tucker - Back or added in a trade for another star player

McLemore - Back, on a minimum deal

Dudley - Gone
