It's very very impressive that the suns beat us only when we were missing AD.
How impressive- they're definitely gonna win the title with that kind of pedigree.

And newsflash to them Phoenix schmucks... they won't get away with "packing the paint..." against the Nuggets. Joker at the top orchestrating that offense and you have MP Jr who's red hot shooting, A Gordon doing the dirty work, Morris coming off the bench. I like Denver in this one |

Booker is a great player but I can see him in the same boat as Lillard he will make make the playoffs and win a round or 2 but thatβs it, I could be proven wrong though.

Booker earned the right to showboat... he b-slapped the Lakers for 22 pts in the 1st Q... it was over at that point. _________________ "Now, if life is coffee, then the jobs, money & position in society are the cups. Hereβs the thing, the Suns are not better than Utah, Denver and likely the Clippers.
Booker is great, yes. But I want someone to flatten him on his ass. |

Lakers lose this one, as their season comes to an end. 113-100. Suns take the series.
What did the Lakers in was the first quarter. Suns came out red hot, hitting long bomb 3 after long bomb 3. Booker asserted himself from the outside. Lakers D to begin the game (say, first 4-5 minutes) was actually playing well. But the Suns continuously were hitting contested jumpers.
Last year, when a team started this way, the Lakers were able to hang around. The team gave up 36 points in the 1st quarter, but could only muster 14 - down 22 after 1 in a closeout game. The team missing not only open 3s, but also point blank layups. They kept rimming out. There must have been at least 5-6 of those missed chippies in the first 16 minutes as the Lakers fell down a whopping 48-19: 29 point deficit.
The Lakers then slowly, but surely, started working their way back. Were down 21 at the half. Down 13 after 3. Got within 10...then the wheels fell off. How the Suns did that was also quite notable, as most coaches call a TO when they see in the 4th their team now only have a 10 point lead after leading by 29 earlier in the game.
The Suns called no TO. CP3 instead attacked and fed his teammates. 3 possessions later the Suns were back up by 17.
Bottomline: Too much of a mountain to climb for a team that had an injured AD (who had to leave after 5 minutes), no AC, a banged up KCP, and not an entirely 100% LBJ. They ran out of gas, and - repeat hopes faded.
It's hard not to look at a few things in this series. One, the horrific, and I mean absolutely turd-ridden, 3 shooting. Closeout game and they were all of 28.6% from 3, and just kept up the same mindset - just shoot them. One wonders what may have happened had they just attacked or taken higher percentage shots, and also if they had hit most of those early game chippies.
However, "if ifs and buts were candies and nuts, then every day would be Christmas."
Lots of folks will have lots of comments about why the team lost. Adding more selfish players? (Hi there DS). Possibly. Not having as many "win the championship at any cost and I play my role" players. Maybe. Not enough consistent 3 shooting - yea, that is a fair criticism, especially in this series.
But the loss of AD was huge. Lakers, this season, could not beat the Suns without him. Bottomline, at least for this series? A healthy AD and I think the Lakers would have taken it in 6. As for the other potential opponents, I'm not sure, and we will never know.
So, in leaving my last thoughts for the final game of this Laker season, what about next year?
1. We need a healthy AD and LBJ. I actually expect this will happen.
2. I want to see THT get some real run next year (assuming he is not traded. I mean sixth player minutes, at a minimum. I am also hoping THT uses the offseason to improve to further deserve that.
3. We now focus on free agency, and potential bargain pickups. DS appears to be gone. We need a play making PG, who hopefully can hit a 3.
4. I'd love to see the team find a way to deal Kuz. I'm just not sure how that happens.
5. I'd like to see the team continue to desire to be good defensively, but work on having a more impactful offense.
Anyways, my fellow purple and gold fans. It was a tough, tough season, after what was a magical season. You can't win 'em all, and it was a tall order with all the injuries and the small rest break between seasons. I'm disappointed, but honestly had resigned myself to this outcome when AD got hurt. Time for the team to regroup, get healthy, get better. I think they will.
Until then, let's get on that Luka bandwagon vs the Clips! _________________ "One thing I admire about Kuzma is his unwavering confidence. He truly has no idea that heβs not as good as he thinks." - Killer_Z |

Lakers get no respect. Imagine winning a championship and having a shortened offseason and the national media starts calling you "street clothes" when you sprain your knee and strain your groin in the span of two games.
Disgusting. No respect for champions. I won't be watching any more games this season. Congrats to whomever wins it all, but I won't be watching |
