Mitchell is the one that really stands out to me just because of the story around him. If memory serves, he had an injury in college so fell in draft rankings. I remember hearing Jazz were elated to get him.
He then went off big time in Summer league. Rest is history. |
He's Dwyane Wade with a jumpshot. Just crazy how he wasn't top 3. |

The pressure is all on the Jazz, the Clippers clearly have them where they want them. |

I don’t think we got a workout with Tatum.
Either way Jayson, Donovan , and Deaaron would be in New Orleans right now |
The Lakers didn't push for a workout with Tatum. |

I was a PG fan and hoped he would join the Lakers and LBJ. Not going to lie.
But man, who wants to pay him this:
Age 32: $39,344,900
33: $42,492,492
34: $45,640,084
35: $48,787,676 (player option). _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

There was probably some hesitance about his size. |

DrDent wrote: | Nets v Bucks: Feels like Nets will take game 4.
Clips v Jazz: Hard to bet against the Clips for game 3 as this is really a desperation game for them (as will game 4, regardless). Team with that type of talent typically takes that game 3 if down 0-2. IMO Alot will depend on whether the Clips get up on the Jazz early. If they do not - and it remains close throughout - don't be surprised to see Jazz pull that one out. I actually think Snyder has been outcoaching Lue for the most part, and that's what that may come down to. |
First, nice to see the Bucks show up. Will be interesting to see if they can keep up the momentum. Thinking no, but would love to see them put some pressure on the Nets.
Secondly, Going to come down to health. How badly is Mitchell hurt? And can Conley return and contribute? Jazz going to need both healthy to finish off this series.
Lastly, clips sure are playing on the edge when it comes to intentionally trying to injure. Cousins stepped under Bogdonovich not once but twice on that sequence where he sprained his ankle in the first half. No call either time. And the collision with Mitchell was questionable IMO. Just an odd angle from the defense to have that collision.
As with the Mavs or even the Crowder examples. Whatever it takes to make the other team uncomfortable? |

It’ll be interesting where he’s at in 2-3 years. Contracts like this used to be unmovable when a player starts to decline, but these days bad contracts get shuffled around quite a bit.
My guess is he’s going to eventually end up on some bottom barrel team (whether that is the Clippers in a couple of years or some other team) or some desperate contender in a smaller market foolishly trades for him, hoping to appease a disgruntled star and keep their team together for one last run. |

In theory I think he will age well. May end up moving up to a small ball PF when he ages. He isn't overly reliant on athleticism.
Now, Kawhi. He's a monster. But how enthusiastic would you be to give him a 5 year deal at the full max given his injury history? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Yes I saw that in 2017 around draft time; clearly no such workout happened. After the draft time many assumed that Tatum had rejected a Laker workout because he had a promise from the Celtics. However in later interviews Tatum denied any such commitment to the Celtics and in fact said the following about being drafted:
Tatum idolized Kobe and wanted to play for the Lakers
In fact Tatum was convinced Phoenix was going to draft him:
Coach K convinced Tatum to consider the Celtics
Phoenix was picking #4. So Tatum's own statement suggests that until Coach K's call Tatum didn't think that Phi/Lal were interested in him, and he clearly was not interested in Bos. |

Agreed., and a lot of that will rest on his injuries. He could be the ideal small ball 4 or he could also be a Luol Deng in 4 years. Even under the worse case scenario, he’ll also have value to some team like Milwaukee, who’s paying (and will continue to pay) the moon to keep Giannis happy.
However, I think someone will give Kawhi the max, especially at his age right now. Heck, I think we probably would (with hesitation) if we were in that position from a salary cap perspective.. |

Reggie Jackson was available this off season, he was a very late sign by the clips, he's averaging 16.2 while shooting 42% from 3s in the playoffs (averaging 8 attempts), he would be a better fit here instead of DS _________________

Individually he only needs to surpass Karl Malone and if you watch both players you can say Mitchell is probably ahead. |

Did Spider average 14 assists per game two seasons in row when I wasn't paying attention? Or have a career TS% of 61%?
I think he could become the greatest Jazz player especially if he brings them the title but he's got a little way to go yet. |

It's simply absurd to put Mitchell in the same breath as Malone, Stockton or Dantley. Recall that Dantley is the only player in NBA history to average over 30 points on 55% shooting 4 years in a row.
Is it possible for Mitchell to surpass them in the future? Sure, but he has ways to go. I'm rooting for him as much as anyone else. |

lets not forget. this is the same guy who sympathized with a wife beater. michele beadle called him out publicly and disappeared. he was suspended for a week and got a raise.
He is a disgrace to broadcasting and I love how he is now getting called out . we can thank Kwami brown for opening those gates.
But he gets clicks with zero integrity so he wins. |

They’re paid to drive online traffic and conversations like this one. It’s why Skip Bayless is paid $8M a year to say stupid things. |

to pick up that kind of talent, you need to do lot of home work. But its easy to go after shiny objects like DS and Trez. |

Mitchell and JC played amazing and Jazz won by single digit at home. Mitchell and Bagdon limping. Conley still out. If you are a Jazz fan, will you be comfortable? |
