So, while stating that you don't have a notion about anything and acceding you don't give thought to the subject at hand, you then go on to speculate that others, who have given it some thought are merely engaging in conjecture . . . unbelievable.

Nope
I'm saying if I were to say how people think it would be conjuncter.

Except the record shows otherwise. You pointedly and inappropriately called out Halflife for stating a very reasonable theory about how the religious would respond to the revelation that alien life existed and and had visited this planet:

jodeke wrote:
You're speaking for millions, millions you know nothing about. What gives you that authority?

You don't know what the people of whom you speak really believe, you're assuming and you know what assume does, makes an Ass out of U and ME

Key phrase "reasonable theory." Isn't that conjecture?

Your willingness to contort yourself in order to make many failed attempts to avoid admitting that you have repeatedly contradict yourself is unfortunate.

Where's the contortion? Isn't a reasonable theory conjecture.

Your self-contradiction resides in the quote tree above. Whether you are either unable or unwilling to acknowledge that is your issue to resolve for yourself.

NO

Genesis 1
The Beginning
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Don't those heavens include the unknown universe?

I think religious people would believe that aliens would be one of Gods creations. I don't know, I think

Then why do they not feel the same about dinosaurs? If they view the prior existence of those as a threat to their idea of God's creation, it's pretty obvious the concept of alien existence would be a greater threat to that.

Why would they feel the prior existence of dinosaurs a threat to their idea of God? If I were to wager a guess, I'd guess they think dinosaurs are one of God's creations same as the would aliens being one.

A lot of Christians believe that the dinosaurs were “abominations” created by the wicked people that precipitated the great flood. Noah didn’t take any on the ark and thus they all died in the flood, which managed to bury them in multiple strange sediment levels before the water magically disappeared.

I didn't know that. I was raised a Christian. That wasn't in the teachings. That's news to me. I don't study religion.

You keep admitting your lack of knowledge, yet you insist on calling out others for expressing their knowledgeable thoughts.

Perhaps it's time to sit back and listen Mr. "In a world where admitting to not knowing something is consider a great way to learn."

I understand it might rattle the ideals. I'll concede that.

OK, so your admitted conjecture is fine, but if anyone else expresses something you view as conjecture then there's a problem . . . got it.

That's not all you are misunderstanding. So maybe rather than looking to challenge others while repeatedly admitting your own lack of knowledge, you should just take a breath and accept someone is making a valid point.

Though I'm sure you'll just label in "conjecture" rather than accept it as reasoned thought.

I haven't challenged anyone. You're saying I'm challenging them, not me. Yes I'll lable some thoughts conjecture.

A conjecture is a mathematical statement that has not yet been rigorously proved. Conjectures arise when one notices a pattern that holds true for many cases. However, just because a pattern holds true for many cases does not mean that the pattern will hold true for all cases.

I’ve met religious people that already believe in aliens. Some of you would be surprised. Some even believe that aliens have visited this planet and they talk about UFO reports, sightings, etc.

And I think only a small percentage give a (bleep) about dinosaurs and Noah’s Ark.

Religion has been here for thousands of years. I don’t think it’s going away if aliens happen to show up. Some will probably say it’s a test of faith. And this idea of what aliens showing up would imply is a topic that religious have already been grappling with for a while now. People aren’t going to stop believing in Jesus or Muhammad because some little green men happen to show up.

Venus is earth like. This excerpt allows the planet is close in composition to earth. If there's life there it may emulate life on earth.

It's 30 percent closer to the sun if it's inhabited its inhabitants may have a brown hue instead of green.

Quote:
Venus is often named as Earth's twin because both worlds share a similar size, surface composition and have an atmosphere with a complex weather system. Both planets have almost the same size and density and Venus is only a 30% closer to the Sun than Earth.

If there were any significant life forms there, we would certainly know that, particularly if it were emulating life as it exists here.

And this a perfect example of how astronomical the odds are that intelligent life is out there somewhere.

Ummm....the surface temperature of Venus averages right around 850 degrees F, which is hot enough to melt lead. Let's not get carried away with the "twin" analogy.

It's a huge leap of unsupportable logic to go from not ruling out the possibility of alien visitation to it must therefor exist.

They said they can’t rule it out.
Aliens are either way behind us or way ahead of us. The fact that we can’t do with our ships what they did with there’s probably means they are way ahead of us. It’s exciting.

Alien ships (UFOs) a probability. Alien life highly likely.

Doesn't this evidence, and the admission of such evidence, create one of two possible conclusions, either -

(a) an corporate or public entity on this planet has technology decades, if not centuries, more advanced than anything we are currently aware of, while choosing not to use that technology (nor even the foundation upon which it is built) openly for either its public or private gain.

(b) There is another civilization we are not aware of - whether subterranean, subnautic or alien - which has intentionally kept itself hidden while possessing technology that is decades, if not centuries, ahead of our own.

(c) All this (bleep) is made up and our government has somehow been tricked.

_____________________________________________________

I cannot think of a logical explanation behind option (a). Given either a profit motive or a political one, it would seem to make little sense for the technology not be revealed. Without a doubt, there is a lot of technology out there that the public is not aware of (from what I am aware just hearing about things in the legal work from IP lawyers, there is stuff that has been invented and is being tested that would blow your mind), but you would still expect at least the foundational technology (the first stuff that was built that eventually led to the technology that, in sum, allowed these UFOs to exist), would be disclosed and used in some way. Making no mention of the political or financial incentives to dominate either the private sector or this planet, you don't just go from our current jet propelled aircrafts to that stuff without some of the technology that lies in the middle being dripped out to the public. That would be like going from the a horse and buggie to a space shuttle without ever being told of steam engines, automobiles or airplanes. The stuff in the middle comes out first.

As such, (b) seems to a more logical explanation to me. although, I suppose (c) is possible somehow. Half the (bleep) illusionists do I can't explain.
