Messi the GOAT. The only argument against him (his lack of international trophies) has now vanished. _________________ Lakers, Chargers, Dodgers, Arsenal FC.

I predict a draw with the game decided on penalties.
Definitely the two most deserving teams of the tournament. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

I just had this feeling that England wouldn't score again after they scored the first one. It was an unusual blunder by Italy in defense. They never made a big mistake for the rest of the game. So disciplined defensively, reminding me of the old Italian teams.
It was interesting that the two guys England brought in late in the game to take penalties both missed their penalties.
Italy was the better team overall and deserved to win, though penalties are always a terrible way to end the game. England has more individual talent (they could field two competitive teams, they're so deep), but Italy has the better team. Chiellini and Bonucci have so much chemistry. _________________ ¡Hala Madrid! |

Do you think we will see those two in the World Cup next year? I know they are old by soccer standards, but the World Cup is not two years away as it usually would be after the Euros.
I also thought Immobile was awful this tournament. Chiesa really impressed me, as did most of their players other than Immobile. Donnarumma is obviously a keeper (see what I did there?!?!) in goal. I wonder if the pipeline is deep at center back after Chiellini and Bonucci. It will also be interesting to see if Spinazzola is recovered in time for the World Cup. He's dynamic. |

Seeing how disrespectful the English fans were, I enjoyed watching their team lose.
"It's coming home"? Like Bonucci said: "It's coming to Rome".
After Donnarumma I thought Chiesa was the best man on the Italian side. Verratti was also steady.
And Sterling is a cheat. _________________ “Properly read, the bible is the most potent force for atheism ever conceived.”

Terrible decision by Southgate, having the youngsters take those last penalties.
Veterans should've stepped up

Yeah, I'm really surprised that Sterling didn't take a PK. Apparently Grealish has really struggled with PK's over the last 2 years, so I can understand leaving him out of the 5, but to have a 19-year-old as your 5th PK taker wasn't smart. Obviously, you do want to have your worst of the 5 PK takers go last, just in case it never gets to the 5th spot, but it was asking a lot to have this kid take a PK in that spot, where it's automatically either to win you the tournament or to keep you in the tournament. |

PSG and Man Schitty are the two teams that could overpay to get him. Chelsea wouldn't do it. Neither would Bayern or Juventus. I can't imagine he goes to China, Qatar or MLS.
My money is on PSG. Knowing what I know about PSG, Nasser Al Khelaifi (I did know him in a non-football capacity) would do anything to be more relevant both in the football world and to his royal superiors. _________________ You are under no obligation to remain the same person you were a year ago, a month ago, or even a day ago. Get Messi to the LA Galaxy! Whatever MLS gave David Beckham, let's triple it! In all seriousness, I do agree with Heartburn that PSG are probably the favorites. |

Beckham was able to purchase an MLS franchise at a bargain basement price....not sure if the MLS is willing to do that again. |

What Beckham got was a chip worth the MLS expansion fee. He gathered investors to pool money to launch the team with working capital and to pay for a stadium. When Beckham signed his deal MLS expansion fee was $25M. Today it is $200M.
There was a time when MLS was down to 12 clubs and AEG owned 8. When Tampa Bay Mutiny and Miami Fusion disbanded in 2001 it looked really bleak. Now there are 27 teams and 3 signed up for expansion. Sacramento Republic FC, St. Louis City SC, and Charlotte FC. Las Vegas Raiders ownership group are strategizing to bring an MLS club to Las Vegas.
BTW The third year on Messi's PSG deal is it a player or team option? Messi is on the record as saying he wants to experience American/MLS football before he retires. Right now Galaxy/MLS can't afford his $35M+ per year salary. In 2/3 years who knows? |

I remember they said Beckham's deal with the Galaxy was worth $250 million at the time....in reality it was something like $10 million a year in hard cash. The rest were commercial deals and speculative investments like a stake in a future MLS club. There was a real possibility that if the MLS had folded he would've been paid peanuts compared to what he was making in Europe. In reality, the MLS had its 2nd wave of expansion and the club values have shot up so his stake in the Miami MLS team could be worth a pretty penny if interest in the MLS keeps going up. |

ESPN has to be absolutely heartsick. They paid all that money for the rights to air La Liga games and now Messi isn't there. Just absolutely brutal. |

That's the problem with La Liga. There are three teams worth watching (Barca, RM and Athletico) and the rest are rubbish. Most games aren't even competitive. Their high end is great in Euro football, but the rest is BS. _________________ You are under no obligation to remain the same person you were a year ago, a month ago, or even a day ago. At least they're getting Mbappe. Football has become a plaything for state-backed oil clubs. If Ronaldo joins City, he's going to get it from both fanbases. _________________ Character

Sevilla has won the Europa League six times in recent years. Villarreal just won that competition last season.
It's not just the three big clubs that are good. _________________ ¡Hala Madrid! |
