I mentioned this in the COVID thread. They must have gotten slapped with a lawsuit or threatened with one.

And oh by the way, Fox requires that all their employees be vaccinated.

the shameless hypocrisy is so blatant. Telling people to risk dying while they themselves got the vaccine

One of my greatest fears is, America was born on racism and it may die on racism.

After the DOW tanked yesterday over fears of COVID variant spread, all of the sudden today Republican governors and senators are tweeting about the need for people to get vaccinated. They were okay with 600K deaths but god forbid their personal stock portfolio takes a hit. This basically tells you almost everything you need to know about the Republican party. Money over people, and selfishness over the common good.

Good for her.

Kevin McCarthy is quoted as having said

Quote:
“There’s …there’s two people, I think, Putin pays: [California Representative Dana] Rohrabacher and Trump … [laughter] … swear to God.”

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/may/17/putin-pays-donald-trump-kevin-mccarthy-recording

Nice!!
https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/3726371/Read-the-transcript-of-the-conversation-among.pdf

The Guardian kept the PDF of the exact conversation between him and Paul Ryan
Paul Ryan big Traitor scumbag saying Russia is going to crush us by buying
all of the politicians AND he acted like he didn't even give a (bleep).

Nancy needs to ask McCarthy right now in public
about this and if he ever changed his opinion

So don't hang yourself with a celibate rope
New movie's showin', so you're goin'
Could care less about the five you're blowin'
Theatre gets dark just to start the show
Then you spot a fine woman sittin' in your row
She's dressed in yellow, she says "hello
Come sit next to me, you fine fellow!"
You run over there without a second to lose
And what comes next? hey, bust a move!

All of the sudden, Republican politicians are at public microphones telling people to get vaccinated (McConnell, Death Santis, Abbott, Fox News, etc).

Quote:
Rick Wilson @TheRickWilson

This wasn't out of some sudden wake-up on the health implications...it smells strongly of new polling.

Quote:
Clint Watts @selectedwisdom

The numbers must be really bad, something really scared them to pivot this quickly, and it will be their states, red states, that will have to close first as the Delta variant rips through them.

For the most part only unvaccinated people are dying at this point and 70% of Republicans are refusing to get vaccinated. So the tipping point came where they realized they are killing more of *their* voters than Democratic voters. And it's about to get worse.

The Rs are gonna purse their OWN investigations into why 1/6 took place. Shouldn't take too long.

Also today, the Senate Republicans blocked motion to proceed on the bipartisan infrastructure bill THAT THEY NEGOTIATED with Biden. Sound familiar? This is like the ACA all over again. You can't trust them AT ALL. They will delay and string out and lie and pretend and complain and block all he way to the bitter end. Dems should just do their own bill, get all the credit and screw the Republicans and their two-faced pretense of bipartisanship.

This is heartbreaking. Getting the COVID vaccine only takes a few minutes. It's effective, safe, and doesn't cost you a dime.

I got mine, and I encourage you to talk to your doctor about getting yours

The about face from a lot of GQP members is pretty crazy. I’m betting it had more to do with the bad internal polling and their wallets than a memo from the White House.

The numbers here in Florida are going absolutely wild. Looking like around 9000 yesterday. Tomorrow’s weekly report will probably see around 60k-70k for the week here.

Yep. No way a Biden administration directive would produce any results, much less one this immediate and widespread.

Were Repubs really stupid enough to think they could escape the virus despite their anti-science stance?

When it was New Yorkers and Californians dying, they didn't care. Now it's places like southwest Missouri where in some areas the vaccination rate is in the lower teens, so their constituents are dying.

I hate even talking about her because that's what she wants. To be talked about. To be relevant.

But I guess she wins this time around. I can't help myself.

I know I sound like a monster for saying this, but I don't really care at this point. I hope it's too late for GOP pleas to their masses to finally vaccinate to make a difference and all those ignorant, selfish red-state aholes get the Darwin Experience in the way that Doctor from Alabama described. And I hope that all the GOP leaders who willingly and knowingly promoted misinformation while they themselves got the vaccination literally watch their voters die off.

Like I said, I know those thoughts are monstrous, but given everything that has happened at the hands of the GOP for the last 5 years I just don't give a (bleep) about anyone who isn't fully committed to doing the right things. Especially now that we know that this new variant is going after kids as well.

I have a feeling that even if these GOP politicians continue to urge people to get vaccinated like they suddenly have, a fair number of MAGA people will accuse them of selling out or being traitors and refuse to listen to them. I hope I'm wrong, but that's how deeply entrenched the COVID denial, anti-science movement seems to be.

Whatever happened to the good old days when the anti-science movement was limited to climate change denial and flat earthers?

No need to feel any guilt. They are all arriving at the predictable natural end for their embrace of ignorance in the absolute. Just stand back, and salute them as they embrace self elimination.

You know, if evolution was planning this, it couldn't have done a more efficient job:

Phase 1: Send a pandemic, bad enough to sort everyone out -- the ones who take notice and get vaccinated; and the ones who double-down on stupid.

Phase 2: Now that everyone is sorted out, send a second pandemic that will take out group 2.

Now if it wasn't for all the collateral damage.....
