I’m glad he can laugh at himself about it.

Would you rather have 84 million to be a starter on a contender or 5.9 million to be a non-starter on a non-contender?

The truly red-pilled will pick the latter.

I guess this is what you call the "acceptance" phase of the grieving process.

Nah, his wife posted that for him. DS is still in the back room crying his eyes out.

It was a back-handed brag. He was posing in front of two expensive cars and a ton of expensive luggage. He's trying to show us he's just fine. SURE he is ...

^^^ To his credit, this "modest" contract with Boston puts him at $75 million earned for his career. Still, how much money is enough? Always one dollar more.

And he had a chance to more than double that 75 million…

Pretty much…and no sympathy tbh.

Maybe he learned a lesson to actually be a professional basketball player and let the rest play out or maybe not…

I must say though, as badly as things ended for his tenure with the Lakers, I have a certain amount of respect for someone who knew what he wanted, turned down our big contract, and then ended up settling for a one year deal worth only about 25% of what he would have got with us over a year.

Look at the last few years, with guys signing big multi-year deals at $30, $40 or more million per year, and then wanting out a year or sometimes only months later.

Dennis could have taken our deal back in the Spring last year, and say now he wants to be traded somewhere else, and we could have had that headache to deal with. Especially after the crappy playoffs he had, the COVID, etc. Imagine how hard it would have been to move him at 4 years $84 million.

I don't wish him any good will, while he is a Celtic, but maybe in his next contract, I'll root for him to do better.

No one is denying that DS made the most boneheaded business decision by an NBA player since maybe Latrell Sprewell who claimed he had mouths to feed and apparently decided to let them starve. I was just addressing the idea expressed in the post above mine that he's not "fine". In the big picture of things he definitely is.

I have no problem that Dennis valued himself and wanted the money.

I do have a problem that so called Lakers fans were actually making excuses and rationalizations for his greed.

It's one thing for the player to want to outmaneuver the team... but another for fans to support him taking advantage of the front office.

I'm just glad he's gone and hopefully we only have to see him twice next season.

So is this him bragging that he has more nicer things than everybody else? That's kinda pathetic IMO. I mean what happened to don't listen to the haters and let your game do the talking? You can't take your Gucci, Bugatti, lambo to the grave but your legacy lives on...

I mean I get it, dude is really trying to get people to stop making fun of him, but I don't think this is the correct way to go about it.

Whatever, keep gloating on the internet...

Unfortunately for him, he will never be on a team as good as the Lakers...
