But he's a 6'7" center on offense, which limits the upside. On defense, can really rebound and has toughness and short-range quickness, but the defense by height, foul proneness and inability to protect rim hurt him. He was awesome in the G-league but in ways that couldn't really translate to the league. He's just of the wrong archetype. 15 years ago he'd be getting Craig "The Rhino" Smith minutes.
Oliver's a 6'8" 225 lb smallball 4/5 type, but has more 4 qualities than Cacok. I actually ranked him as a top-45 pick in the 2017 draft (he was undrafted). The first thing that jumps out at you is that he physically imposes with big-boy athleticism. He's well-built for his size, is an absolute dunk machine, and just an excellent rebounder and shotblocker. There's really some Stromile Swift-like qualities here in terms of the sheer athleticism with an attempt at floor spacing (but nothing trustworthy). He's unrefined, ball-skills wise and in foul control. If he sticks, he can learn from our guys and he'll be fun to watch at garbage time. |
Players are now measured constantly barefoot; he's 6'7" and basically a bouncy younger K. Faried. IF he's good at PF, he could have some value & a little more if he can handle some SF's IF injuries occur.
We seem to be covered at C.... _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team ! |

Yeah, I remember he lit us up. Like everything that could go right, did. That's one of those games where it's like ok, show me that again. |

He’s obviously not Millsap, but he has some Millsap-ish to his game. Worth a look in training camp. |

We need a guy who can primarily play SF, not a combo 2/3 or a 3/4, but a true SF. If Oliver fits the bill great, it not find another minimum level SF, heck bring back McKinney or sign Ennis if you have to, and call it a day. _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions! |
