Here's to hoping it lives up to the legendary nameplate.

It is the next generation Acura Civic/ILX. They are just giving it back its original name.

They should do the same for RLX. Just call it a Legend.

Legend/Integra still have more brand equity than RLX/ILX.

Apparently not the same as the ILX because it supposedly revs beyond 7500 RPMs (The engine is likely going to be a NA K20C and not K24V). Acura is serious about returning to its performance roots after the release of the NSX Type-S and the Integra is its next performance model.

My guess is similar to the Supra’s MSRP. So starting at around low 40s.

That is the equivalent to the next generation top of the line Civic. The Type R.

The top of the line Integra will also be "electrified." My guess is a rear mounted electric motor for all wheel drive.

Yeah, I know the brand boss for Acura says Integra is not a replacement for ILX. They are discontinuing the ILX and bringing in the Integra. He is lying.

Acura being a step up brand will not have the equivalent of the base Civic.

Put the CTR engine with manual and price starting at $35k base model and I'll be lining up to buy one.

I'm not so sure on the electrification front. The ethos of the DC2 was a well-handling FF that was lightweight with that rev-happy B18C. The additional electric motors would help with bottom-end torque but not the weight.

A dressed-up civic would be a huge disappointment for the enthusiasts and probably won't do the sales numbers any good (not that coupes or sedans sell well in today's market). Acura needs to hit this entry-level performance car out of the park with the NSX leaving and the TLX Type-S being derided as Type-Slow.

It'd better bring a lot more to the table relative to it's competitors compared to the original Integras if it's going to be in the 40s. If it's coming in with BRZ caliber performance, good luck selling that at that price. If the new Z comes in as described, 40K base with 400hp, all these cars better rethink where they stand. Everyone was saying how they thought the Supra 3.0 was going to be in the 60s which made zero sense given the RCF in the lineup at that price a few years back.

In any event, the Integra never competed with the Supras and Zs of the world. As a previous owner of an 1992 Integra, let's be real, it was a Civic with a beefier engine and a bit more performance oriented.

It needs to be around the BRZ price point or it will fail. The Z and Supra were cars that were above the price point where the Integra competed. Unless they plan on changing the platform different from the last generation Integra or RSX. Those cars were FWD sport compact cars, anything radically different and you probably lose those enthusiasts. If Honda execs were listening they should learn their lesson from why the NSX failed to sell.

Exactly. Because it was one of the iconic vehicles of 90s import/JDM scene, people are forgetting where it stood on the totem pole. Performance wise, out of the box it was kind of (bleep). Kind of a stepping stone between an Econobox and the full blown Japanese GT's of the era.

The new Z is basically using a twin turbo V6 from the existing Nissan parts box and a new body on the last generation chassis. Thats how they were able to keep the price down even though Nissan as a company is going thru financial trouble.

Marketing this car is going to be a headache. College kids might not be able to afford it, consumers in the market might go for the 86/brz which is rwd and possibly less money. Meaning the only people willing to purchase are your diehard honda/integra enthusiasts who might prefer the next gen CTR.

I think it's the motor from the Q60 Red sport. Your point still remains though.

I have seen $35K for base model and $45 for Type S. The thing with Acura's is the price is the price as they come fairly loaded with only a few options to upgrade. One reason I have always been a fan over similar competitors.

Front looks good, rear end looks great, side looks like an Accord.

This from the company that thought it would be wise to put a 5-cylinder engine in their vehicles...

It just looks like a rebaged ILX with a manual transmission. For the hype they were generating they certainly didn't put the work into the design.

Doesn't look promising. Was hoping for a N/A screamer and double wishbones all-around. The thing looks like a porker too.

Yep, sounds like a marketers dream. The car doesn't really distinguish itself from the rest of the lineup. The issue isn't even the 4 doors, its that the design doesn't really scream "Integra".

Well, at least you can pick up one of these for a third of the price...
