I say Stanley Johnson is the Laker's catalyst. We need to keep this guy.

He won't be the catalyst on this team that's for sure, however he will provide some much needed Defense!

We have more moves to make, but will we make them or not will be the question?

Westbrook needs to go for sure. Simmons is probably the only conceivable deal and I don't think the 76ers will bite.

Westbrook, THT, Nunn and Jordan, might make for some intrigue, but I don't know if anyone wants RW's contract.

Hopefully Stanley is the Lakers choice with the recent Rondo Trade.
At the end of the day I have a gut-feeling, Clutch is wanting Simmons on the Lakers!

He actually made Lakers small ball lineup better by adding toughness and hustle with an average shooting.

They have, and they will. I just hope they can do a 1+1. Like vet min, and a partially guaranteed 2nd year. Easy contract to throw in an offseason trade if you need to or even simply waive.

Ariza should never play ahead of Stanley....only to give him a breather...in fact, there will be somewhat of a log jam with Melo comes back...IMO Stanley should play the most followed by Melo (15 minutes) and Ariza only if needed.

I can only hope that the 3rd 10 day was to buy time through the trade deadline. If they mess this up, they are stupid.

Vet mins can be up to 2 years in length (including this year as a rest of season contract).

So let’s assume after his current 2nd (and last) 10-day is up (Jan 27), he signs a rest of season contract the first available day it can be offered (Jan 28), then there will be 73 days remaining in a 174 day season. So the 2 season vet min of 1.67m will be prorated downward by a factor 101/174 (ie 970k). That amount is what we can offer Stanley in yr1 on a rest of season deal and since he is a 6yr seasoned player, next year’s deal of a 2yr deal will start at 2.26m. Also that 970k deal would account for about 3.15m in luxury taxes this season.

Note: that 2.26m amount will be his cap hit next season if we do in fact lock him up on a 2yr rest of season contract. It should also be noted that we had 890k remaining from our mMLE (5m of which went to Nunn). Unlike the vet min which begin to prorate on the 1st day of the season, that remaining mMLE amount began prorating downward on Jan 10th. Unlike using the vet min towards a rest of season deal for up to 2yrs, we can use the remaining prorated mMLE to offer Stanley up to 3yrs in length (including this season). However that amount would start at 517k (nearly 50% of the prorated vet min) if he were to sign it on Jan 28th after his current and final 10-day deal is up.

I am looking forward to seeing Stanley play with AD.

Stanley has a thick build and big wingspan. I can see him muscle some 4/5's instead of making AD do it.

what would his contract look like if we were using the remaining MMLE? it seems like a low ball offer with only 517k this season compare to 970k. is that even legal to have his contract lower than the Vet min?

@mad: my previous projections were based on the 116m sann on art cap projection (I gotta stop doing that haha). See below fir what I believe are the correct projections based on a projected 119m salary cap and yr1 base salary amounts.

If we sign Stanley with a 2 yr vet min rest of season deal:
Year 1: 970k
Year 2: 2.4m

If signed with remaining mMLE on a 3yr deal:
Year 1: 517k
Year 2: 1.6m
Year 3: 1.9m

Stanley Johnson scored 10 straight points in the 4th and went on a brief one person crusade to help carry our team through a tough fourth quarter while remaining aggressive offensively/

Let me know whenever Ben Simmons does that

Same reason we start 6"2 Bradley at SG when we have 6"5 reeves who's a better player.
