What is with Utah? We lose to the likes of Orlando and Sacramento but whenever we play Utah, we own them. lol. Nice win btw. Too bad there's not enough games left for us to climb to 4th or 5th so we could face the Jazz in the first round.

They have 2 bigs that donโ€™t stretch the floor which allows our hyper switching defense to recover.

They are also unathletic by NBA standards so this Lakers team can keep up.

They also deploy Gobert like heโ€™s a franchise player and NBA teams see him as this slow, NBA old game guy they can attack with modern isolation in space. Apparently Utah doesnโ€™t see it

The bigs also have no real post game. So recovering isn't as important. We can put smalls on their bigs, not get abused and then have smaller/mobile Cs defending guards on switches and also not get abused. Can't do that with everyone, but we can do that with them.

Additionally, by having smaller C's, they also have perimeter games to some extent. So that pulls the defensive anchor high versus patrolling on the back line.

That neutralizes Gobert pretty badly. It also doesn't allow the Jazz scorers to work off screens for pullups, layups or lobs. We're saying beat us on iso as much as you can try, which also neutralizes a lot of catch and shoot opportunities for the Jazz since we don't over help.

Young, long, athletic wings have always been our kryptonite. Lebron and AD both struggled offensively in the Warriors game. Remember how poorly they played in the 1st half of last year's play-in game?

Gobert doesn't get enough credit for being surrounded by terrible POA defense.

The defense against Utah is easier, they just need to stop Donovan, and on the interior GObert is not really and offense guy. So basically Lakers can guard them easier compare to other teams with dominant bigs.
