Impressive rookie. Reaves is a Swiss Army knife. He does it all, score, rebound, defend, hustle, pass.
Stats: 10 pts, 5 rebs, 2 ast, 3 stls, 2 blks, +18

Amazed by Austin's game. So mature way of playing and also high IQ. He does not have huge numbers but number of smart plays is over the top.
When the times comes Buss family need to show their wallet and pay him. We cannot have one more Caruso case. If it means few millions more pay it.
He is 23 yo, plenty of time to develop even more.
He need to be our modern Derek Fisher. The guy who fits in any team and can play any role you ask him to play. We dont need him to be high number guy, we need him to be smart complementary player to others. Same as Fisher was to Kobe, Pau and Shaq before.
DONT BE CHEAP JEANNIE!!!

Obviously, some team could have drafted him.

What happened is before the draft the Lakers contacted his agent and told them they wanted to sign him to a two-way contract if he went undrafted.

Then late in the draft the Pistons were thinking about taking him in the second round. They contacted his agent and told him as a courtesy they were thinking of selecting him and would offer him a two-way contract. The agent asked them not to select him and they didn't. But they could have

He is an absolute pleasure to watch. On offence and defence. The kid literally does EVERYTHING.

I do not care if he starts, but he should definitely be getting starter minutes and closing out games. Even if his shot is off, he brings so much hustle and value.

I would be very happy with him, Stanley, Malik and THT as a core young group moving forward.

I hadn't heard those details to date. Thanks for posting. It's a great signing in light of how many draft picks we've packaged in deals. He's the perfect complementary player for any team.

Love this kid. Would've loved ever more to see AR15 and AC Fresh out there with Davis and LeBron.

Reaves is looking like he can be a solid role player. The Warriors targeted him offensively, Curry ate him up and they went with whoever he was guarding. Vogel never should have had him guarding Curry. At almost 24 his ceiling is close to what we see and the FO doesn’t need to be cheap with him like they were with Caruso.

He's a solid second-round pick type of guy.

No GM would take him in the first round (not glamorous, not much upside). I think Reaves will last in the league well beyond his initial deal, and thus given that 5-10 first-rounders each draft turn out to be busts i.e. don't last much beyond their rookie contracts, Reaves has a reasonable claim to belonging in the 1st round; it's just that GM's are entirely focused on finding that next star with their 1st round picks - which Reaves will clearly never be.

Austin Reaves was a game-high +18 tonight, with 7 boards, 6 assists (0 turnovers) and 2 steals to go with his 10 points.

Despite this terrible season, I'm glad he's getting minutes to finish off the season compared to beginning of season.
