4 year deal

If Jeannie thinks her cheapness’s with Vogel is going to work on someone like Snyder then she’s in for a rude awakening.

Hiring Mike Brown is such a Sacramento Kings move. Maybe he's learned a lot in Golden State, but I expect his offense will be give it to DeAaron Fox and get out of the way.

Lakers should bring back Wesley Matthews this summer, I can’t believe we didn’t get him when we had the chance

Great, just what we need. More old guys who are washed up and can't hit 3-pointers.

Why don't we also sign Jamal Crawford and Joe Johnson then?

He’s a Improvement over Ellington and Bazemore, for the vet minimum he would be a great add.

That's like saying being homeless in L.A. is an improvement over being homeless in Russia.

Well it is a technically a big improvement since you can't be homeless in Russia and live.

And a team that's only offering vet mins when they didn't even make the play-in is going to have some homeless guys on it.

But why simply settle for "homeless" guys? It's what got us into this situation in the first place.

We may need to sign one or two guys like that since we'll mostly only have the vet min to offer, but why should we fill out the whole rest of the team with washed guys like that?

Quote:
"And Matthews has taken Tatum out of his game completely"...a quote from an announcer just yesterday. He played fantastic defense. I'll be honest. His stint with us wasn't that impressive but he's showing he still has some in the tank. It's not a bad suggestion at all ln the right situation.

When players get to that age, they will fall off a cliff at any time, especially on defense, and they become more injury-prone. He will be 36 next season.

Matthews shot 39.5 percent from the field and 33.8 percent from 3-point range this season. We need 3-point shooting, and we were just 23rd in offensive rating. Is that the kind of efficiency you want the Lakers to have?

No. And your points are more than valid. Overall, I think of him in the Rondo mode. End of the bench vet who plays solid D and hits occasional threes, and who would be more useful come playoff time.

But I'm well aware of the fact that we need an infusion of younger, more athletic and defensive-minded talent to fill the roster than older vets like Matthews. .

Sure, we could sign him to be the 12th man and play like 5 minutes a game in the regular season, but he shouldn't be in the rotation.

When they signed Trevor Ariza, they were reportedly expecting him to play a huge role. That was a huge mistake, as was signing Melo to play a big role.

(bleep)! They were our only hope in getting Mark Jackson out of the picture.

I’m very disappointed, Vivek. Damn, finally wised up and went with your basketball peoples’ choice.

Mike Brown isn’t the best, but it’s not like Sacramento can get any high profile coaches so Brown is better than giving it to with all due respect.

They're gonna go after Tony Snell, aren't they? Aren't they? Not that I hate Tony Snell. In fact, he's a fantastic shooter (career 39% shooter), but they need to get younger.

some of those guys wouldn’t take a paycut to play for a contender?

If you believe the tweeter heads on social media...if we decide to bring back AD and LeBron and surround them with quality 3-D players and shooters we will be back but I get what you mean it’s tough to gauge what we can expect.. that’s why people have come around on the idea of blowing it up but for example even if we don’t build a contender you can still take a crack on guys like Nurkic since it’s likely we won’t bring back Dwight.

Guys I'd be looking at just in case they'd take a low deal:

Guards:
Gary Harris Jr.
Tomáš Satoranský

Wings:
Taurean Prince
Kyle Anderson
Danuel House

Bigs:
Thomas Bryant
Chris Boucher

I think it'll be tough to see what direction the Lakers go until the Russ situation is resolved.

If we go say Hayward/Oubre, then you have a bunch of wings now and you go with a guard/center with the MMLE.

If we go Brogdon/Hield, we will need wings.

And so on. A lot of the planning is on hold until they figure out what to do with Russ.

Only Sacto would make this hire. Stay true to their incompetency. Sacto makes Lakers look like a well-run franchise.

Who is the contender? McGee is playing for the Suns who are still in the playoffs.

I would say the plan should be to tank for Victor Wembanyama next season, but Pels have the pick swap. They won't be able to tank until 2026.

Anyone know if there's a Lakers Draft Thread?
I'm hoping we can buy a late 2nd rounder this year.

The Clippers used cash to buy the pick that became Boston, hopefully Pelinka has that idea and Jeanie lets him spend the money.

Which C would you choose in FA

Mitchell Robinson
Jusuf Nurkic
JaVale McGee
with What money?

some of those guys wouldn’t take a paycut to play for a contender?

Who is the contender? McGee is playing for the Suns who are still in the playoffs.

I don't see anyone of those being possible...maybe Robinson...a slight chance...no way can we get Nurkic...zero chance.

Just saw the latest episode of winning time, the 1980 chip… We got Bron acting like an aged Kareem wine and AD need to step the fawk up like Magic. Start with that, I mean healthy, then the rest would fall in line. I mean we beat Chocolate Thunder and The Doctor without Cap, in Philly! C’mon AD, bounce back to that bubble tall Kobe level
