| Hard to comprehend. Articles a bit unclear - maybe I skimmed too much - but why did the stampede start? Usually there’s an inciting event - say someone thinks they hear a gun go off and people start rushing, then madness takes over - but I don’t think the article stated anything of the sort. What triggered the initial surge? |

This is terrible. Saw few reports and it seems to be just from being over crowded in a narrow place.
I remember I was at Disneyland years ago on fourth of July watching the fireworks. I was at the square and it was way over crowded. I was thinking things can get really intense with all the people around. It's really scary. Thank goodness nothing happened though. |

The videos bring it home. I could see some situations here where it could happen. I know West Hollywood has a huge Halloween carnival but I guess thats cancelled for 2022 as well. |

I was there last night. There was no “stampede”. It’s just thousands a of people crammed into small alleyways throughout the area. I barely survived myself. Took about an hour to get from the station exit to a bar called Thursday Party, which is probably like 100 feet away. Saw at least a dozen bodies last night. Absolutely tragic

Jesus Christo! Thank God you survived. How horrific.
There's a lot of great things about how Seoul was redeveloped after the wars, but some of the less glamorous neighborhoods they inadvertently created have become real rabbit warrens.
