His defense has surprised me, on offense his efficiency needs to go up if he wants to chunk. It has been going up 50eFG% so far which is ok, but would love to see it st 54% like KcP with us.

Im glad ham took him out for Reeves + Matt Ryan it shows he knows his numbers

I don’t think we will win nearly enough games for him to be considered, but show me a coach who has done a better job this year than Darvin Ham. It has to hold, of course, but getting THIS group to play a top defense is astonishing. By any measure Walker was a terrible defender prior to this year. Freaking Westbrook is playing D. It’s very impressive stuff.

Super surprising - credit to him for improving and for Ham's staff in coaching him up/trusting him out there. Monk and LWIV are comparable top tier athletes, but Lonnie has that extra height and stronger frame that's helping him battle against wings with the improved focus, technique, and effort we've seen from him on D so far.

He’s been saying all right things since signing here. Literally the first thing when asked what he will bring to the table and says something along the lines of “I’m here for defense”.

He’s got his mind right. 👍

Monk was an offensive spark plug for sure, and better shooter, but an utter liability on defense.

Lonnie is at least 6'4 and has insane athleticism and gives effort defensively. Better signing. With non-Bird raises though, the most we can give him is something like 7.77m next year (IIRC 120%).

Next year the Lakers will have $30 plus mill in cap space.

Assuming now this whole thing with Kyrie is done, the Lakers can actually use that money to sign on role players like him, Troy Brown Jr and others.

Hopefully we'll build a real TEAM instead of chasing for another "star"

We need continuity

There's Levert and DLo for shooters
KLove for the min be dope too
Keep Reaves, Lonnie and Troy
still need big wings that can shoot

Kuzma will be my target if he opts out at around $15m per... That probably leaves us with $8-9m to sign another player.

Thats with Walker/Reaves/Troy Brown cap holds. Most we can offer Walker is $7.8m. I think Lakers will have to renounce him, if they want to sign him to a bigger contract.

Kuzma is making $13 million now; I can't imagine he's only after $15 million.

My guess is he'll resign with Washington for a starting salary of $20-25 million.

Some fans say its just another team. Funny.Players never say that and they never say what he said about other teams.

LW4 has been trending in the right direction, and I have a feeling he will absolutely go off for us tonight.

Go get them young Skywalker!

Most in the media as well as fans considered it an overpay to get Walker for the full tpMLE. As a concession to giving the full amount, Pelinka should have asked for a team option for a second year. That way we'd have Walker for the discount for two years.

Pelinka should have also signed Troy Brown and JTA to two years like Damien Jones. There isn't much advantage to the team in signing a vet min to 1 year. If they are bad then they'll be stashed away at the 13-15 spot on the roster and could be waived in case of emergency...but if they turn out good the team has to increase the pay the next year to keep them instead of benefitting from another year.

Players like Monk last year, Schroeder and Bryant this year are imo in a different category only accepting a 1 year deal for a "make it" year audition.

Walker however, with the qual offer rescinded by the team that drafted him, tanking, as a young player, he had vet min written all over him, giving the full tpMLE should have given us another year of production at that level if we so chose.

No lie… was surprised with the size and speed of signing of this guy, but he has shown to be at least as productive if not a clear upgrade to Malik Monk…

LW4 and Brown both are solid depth pieces at a bargain price..

I always thought Walker was probably a good value signing but he seemed highly redundant. With Dennis out, Beverly sucking, Nunn a human dumpster fire, we are needed every bit of him.

Brown has also been a very pleasant surprise. Reaves/Walker/Brown are def a bench trio I would like to see back next season.

LW4 brings more to the table than Monk. You can’t teach size, Walker is a legit athlete wing whereas Monk is an undersized shooting guard.

Yeah I know haha.
You should have read the posts in the summer though.
Some were really upset at the signing.

$7.8m only… I think if he continues his play, some other team will offer him more.
