That's how I see it, as well. I feel like they are using not wanting to part with picks, as an excuse to justify them not wanting to cut into their profit margins.

Yep...sad, but it is what it is. Been trying to work up the strength to just step away...at least for a few months if not years.

Good game by Russ. For the most part he was engaged defensively. Nice block on Durant too.
FYI:
Plus-Minus Players of the Week

Right Way: Joel Embiid (PHI) was a plus-67 in four games last week.
Wrong Way: Russell Westbrook (LAL) was a minus-54 in four games last week.

I have been told plus/minus isn't a good indicator. because out of the gate Russ on the court was a plus and team was minus when he was off.

Kudos to Russ for playing team-first ball.
His relentless assault on the rim and passing skills have really paid dividends on offense lately. He also seems to be more energized and motivated defensively.
I hope he continues on this trajectory, if he does the winning will come.

Stats last night vs Nets:
14 Pts, 4-15 FG (1-6 from deep, 5-6 FT), 6 RBs, 12 Ast, 1 Blk, 4 TO, 3 fouls, (-6).

Dude went from 8% 3pt shooter to 34% in a span of 4-5 games.

Now we just need Lebron and PatBev to do the same...

Gotta admit, I'm liking Westbrook's play as of late...

Whatever was wrong with him and his three-point shots has been passed along to Beverly...argh...!

Since coming off the bench:

18 ppg (45% fg, 41.5% 3pt, 81% ft), 8 asst, 5 reb
That's 28M production?

Russ is great in his role as coming off the bench in the 1st, playing into the mid part of the 2nd quarter. Then he should not finish out the half.

Repeat same for the 3rd/4th quarter. As I've said, he should be a middle innings relief pitcher now. Doesn't have the juice to be a starting PG, and makes too many mistakes in high leverage situations.

But he is awesome as a change of pace, high energy guy when our starting shift players are getting a bit winded.

He wouldn't be getting those touches and minutes on a good team, though. Put him on a good team, and that team has depth at the PG position, and probably has better wing defender/3 point shooters. Here he's competing with Nunn and Beverly.

But for sure, I have said since last year he's a MLE level guy right now, and can be for a good team off the bench. I can't see a single secure playoff team start him, or give him anything more than the MLE next summer. I think we'll see that in the free agency of 2023.

For example, former Laker JC from Utah. He's making 11.5M a year, and he is averaging 18.5 ppg 5 apg and shooting 39.3% from 3 (making 3 a game). He was an elite bench player before this year. Teams want guys ilke that when they will pay up big FA money. They won't be looking at Westbrook anything more than the MLE.

i highly doubt he can keep up with the 41.5% from 3, but if he can, 28 mil is a fair price, lol

you know, if you put WB in this Utah team now, they might do some serious damage because they wouldn't need Russ to shoot 3s and have big guys that moves well.

What Russ is giving us off the bench was the best case scenario people that knew his game and weren't just lying to themselves, could have asked for. We'll see if hopefully he can sustain it.

This was one heckuva game by Westbrook, I had been skeptical to start the season but the man is making a believer out of me (in his current role, that is)

I've been grumbling about Russ for months.
Always wanted him off the bench; moreso that he doesn't have to play with Lebron as they're so similar in needing the ball in their hands to be most effective. But man, he's doing way better than expected.

You can tell that the fans have turned their hate around as you don't hear groans when he takes a 3. I don't know how long his 3 pt shooting holds up but glad he's hitting. And I don't have the numbers but he seems to be making his layups with less shots blocked.

I'm bummed that he hurt his hand. Hopefully it's nothing serious.
