From the link (quoted above):

Quote:
If Musk were just intent on destroying the site, he wouldn’t keep backtracking by pausing the Twitter Blue program or trying to hire back employees he laid off; he’d let it all burn. If he were just a fool who didn’t know what he was doing but wanted the site to make money first and foremost, he’d stop tweeting.

But Musk wants to make money by harming his enemies. He wants to monetize his grievance, his bigotry, and his cruelty. He’s evil and a butthead, both.

As such, Musk is a perfect symbol of the current right wing. Like the post-policy GOP, and like Trump, Musk is so ensnared in conspiracy theories and in hatred that he can’t see real problems in front of his nose and makes up imaginary problems that aren’t there. Twitter’s ongoing rolling disaster is a good example of what happens when you give wealthy, hateful reactionaries absolute power over institutions and communities. By mixing self-imposed ignorance with deliberate malevolence, they destroy them.

He's a malignant narcissist.

Quote:
Signs and Symptoms of Malignant Narcissism

Signs and symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder (and the severity of these symptoms) vary. But the following are often characteristic of someone with malignant narcissism:

Preoccupied with fantasies about beauty, brilliance, success, and power
Unable to handle criticism
Tendency to lash out if they feel slighted
Likely to take advantage of others to get what they want
Overly concerned about their appearance
Have an expectation of being treated as superior
Lack of empathy for others
Inflated sense of self and inability to self-regulate
Have no remorse for hurting others and no interest in apologizing unless it benefits them
Have an attitude of deserving the best of everything
Tendency to monopolize conversations and/or mistreat those who they perceive as inferior
Hidden insecurity and a weak sense of self
Tendency to blame others for their own bad behavior

A lot of that was already on display at Tesla.

Turns out the world's richest man is just another mediocre white male with a huge ego and massive insecurity issues.

Twitter is about to go dark because he fired all the people who made it a technical reality because he thought he knew better. And the ones that weren't fired ended up quitting because he made the place a completely hostile authoritarian hell hole of a work place.

What an ass.

@anothercohen
I was laid off from Twitter this afternoon. I was in charge of managing badge access to Twitter offices.

Elon just called me and asked if I could come back to help them regain access to HQ as they shut off all badges and accidentally locked themselves out.

All that massive hugeness is likely compensating for something tiny.

Someone has to say it: Elon Musk has lied for 27 years about his credentials. He does not have a BS in Physics, or any technical field. Did not get into a PhD program. Dropped out in 1995 & was illegal. Later, investors quietly arranged a diploma - but not in science. 🧵1/

Drop in the proverbial bucket. Musk's net worth 193.8 billion USD A person with his knowledge will make it back.

It's been said, "If we divided all the money in the world equally, in a short time the rich would be rich again, and the poor would be poor."

But who loses more? The guy who sunk 11 figures to buy a company or the employees who probably lose a 6 figure job but don't have to deal with a demanding boss that will fire them at the smallest slights.

Yeah, maybe by a rich person to justify not sharing the wealth, because that is bullstuff.

Well technically the guy who lost billions, but (still-)billionaires, and for that matter less than billionaires, never lose. They just fail upward. We have very clear evidence of this.

I don't know who said it. It may be a stretch but it makes sense. You can take the money but you can't take the wherewithal.

Monetarily, the employee. The guy who sunk 44 billion has a 149 billion dollar recouping stash.

But the employee isn't going to be jobless forever. They have technical skills that probably got them that 6 figure salary. They will get hired by some other dot com or start their own company. Elon however if Twitter fails will have to write off that expensive investment. It will be a huge blow to his ego to go along with that monetary loss. Not to mention alot of his net worth is tied to his stock value. Will Tesla stock value remain at sky high prices if the Elon Musk magic is no longer as bright as before?

Good points. I'm not a tax aficionado. I don't know how much Musk would lose if he bankrupted Twitter. How much that would affect his stock value is another area I have no knowledge of.

I'm opining on immediately. Both will recover but I think immediately the employee will lose more.

Probably not. We’re already seeing Musk’s net worth take a beating since last year — 1 year ago he was worth $340 billion. With this Twitter fiasco, as Chick would say, “mustard’s off the hot dog.”

Twitter website was very glitchy last night, and people thought it was crashing. Musk called on engineers for help today and whatever they did calmed down the glitchiness and it seems to be working more normally for now.

A few tech reporters have pointed out that due to bank loans, even if the site crashed, the banks would force it to be fixed/reconstructed and would even force a sale to a more stable CEO if that's what it took. It's too valuable to fail -- to the banks. Before the site started getting glitchy yesterday, Musk had already tweeted that he intended to find a CEO run it so he could step back.

Now that he's smashed his toy he doesn't want it any more. He wants someone else to clean up the mess.

Wherewithal? The idea of super wealthy getting there through hard work and pulling up their bootstraps is a myth. By far and away, they got their wealth through privilege and opportunity. The saying doesn't make sense. It's not like if all the money were distributed equally amongst the world's populace, the same 1%ers would just earn all their wealth back.

I'm not questioning how they got their wealth and I didn't say super wealthy. That's a different animal. I posted a hypothesis.

Not having any empirical proof I say the hypo is a stretch but it makes sense to me. You're adamant in your opinion. Do you have proof or is that an opinion?
