We have entered the talk, talk, talk portion of the season.

Speaking of lineups, I’m ready to dump Klutch like today’s opponent did.

Just like Cleveland, I’m sick and tired of the Klutch program and getting our asses kicked like they did before saying enough of LeGM and his crap rosters.

This is fait accompli…..there is no lineup here that is a winner.

LBJ and Bev not available meant that by the 9 minute mark, the Lakers were fielding Russ + an assortment of 2nd rounders and g leaguers against veteran starters. Just wait till AD is hurt again…

There is no magical coaching or chemistry that makes this menagerie of marginal players even a legitimate playoff team.

Getting back on topic, thinking KNunn’s shooting may have gotten him a couple more looks as the starter alongside Lonnie.

G: Nunn
G: Walker
F: TBrown
F: LeBron
C: Davis

Bench players so far
Russ G
Reaves G/F
Ryan F
Gabriel F/C

Seems like that is an nine man rotation that certainly could use some improvements in certain areas.

The roster problem is with the 9 vet minimums. LeBron could be better but the team sucks with roster construction. We knew that before training camp and knew that if a trade wasn't made the team would suck, not valid for us to be surprised or shift blame when we saw a mile away. It is what we thought it would be.

I've seen enough.

Lonnie
AR
Lebron
Troy
AD

That's the winning starting lineup!

Dennis
Max or Pat
Russ
Gabriel or Matt
Bryant

Might be the 2nd unit.

^ if a healthy/complete roster after this mini break, they really have to win at least 6 of the next 7 games……

That would make them 9-11 going into December and maybe a prayer of sniffing the playoffs..

December/January/February will bring at least one more extended outage for both AD and LBJ (hopefully not at the same time) so these next wins are huge to keep the season from becoming a lost cause…

With Bryant and Schroeder coming back, it would be great to have Bryant play 16 mins a game at Center to allow AD to play at least a few minutes at the 4. I hope we significantly reduce Pat Bev’s mins as well.

This is the ideal 11-man rotation in my opinion. If we need to slim this down, we probably would yank Christie or Wenyen from the rotation but would honestly prefer to remove Pat Bev.

AD (24) - Bryant (16) - Wenyen (8)
LeBron (34) - AD (10) - Wenyen (4)
Troy (24) - Reaves (16)- Christie (8)
Lonnie (28) - Reaves (8) - Dennis (12)
Bev (16) - Westbrook (28) - Dennis (4)

I think we have seen enough this season to understand what we need to do to win.

Trade russ, bev, and nunn away combined with the two first round picks.

Trade russ and one pick

Trade nunn and Bev with another first

Target a bigman and some shooters.

Maybe nunn and Bev with a first for Turner
Russ and a first for rosier and oubre or hayward

That gets rid of the players who aren’t really contributing, keeps the players that are, gets us some shooting, and wing defense.

Nothing ideal about Davis continuing to play Center. Beverly has been a giant failure. He needs to be out the starting lineup. I pray that when Bryant comes back, we go with.

Reaves
Brown/Walker
Legramps
Davis
Bryant

Russ and a pick for Turner/Hield
-
Reaves/Schroder/Nunn
Hield/Pat/Max
Lebron/Walker/Ryan
AD/Brown/Wenyen/JTA
Turner/Bryant/Jones
-
Then try to trade Pat/Nunn/Jones and a pick for a bigger wing

9 man rotation:
Bryant(24) AD(14) Gabriel(10)
AD(22) LBJ(16) Gabriel(10)
LBJ(20) TBjr(20) Reeves(8)
Walker(28) Reeves(20)
Schroeder(24) Westbrook(24)

Alarm will sound if opened...break glass only if emergency use needed:
Jones/JTA/Ryan/Christie/Bev/Nunn

I would prefer Oubre for defense but I think his presence on the Hornets is what makes Rozier/Hayward available...possibly without the Lakers giving up a FRP. They have their 2021 lottery pick at SG as well plus Martin and McDaniels clogging up the SG/SF minutes with PJWash at PF...all this without even considering Bridges who recently copped a plea to avoid jail time so expect him to return to the Hornets at some point this season.

All this to say that teams typically would have to part with a FRP to dump salaries like Rozier/Hayward when younger cheaper players are poised to replace them in the starting lineup...this could perhaps allow the Lakers to make a straight up trade of WB for Rozier/Hayward without including a pic to take on the multi-year salaries allowing Charlotte to get cap space without spending a FRP to get out of their contracts.

Then do Nunn/Bev/FRP for Turner to put themselves in a position to compete for a championship.

10-man rotation:
Turner Bryant (AD)
AD (LBJ) (Gabriel)
LBJ (Hayward) TBjr
Hayward Walker (Reeves)
Rozier Schroeder Reeves

Dare I say it? With Dennis and Thomas back, and AD shutting up the haters, the Lakers actually look like they have an NBA roster.

For now:

PG: Reaves - Westbrook
SG: Walker - Schroder
SF: TBJ - Christie
PF: Bron - Gabriel
C: Davis - Bryant

Seems pretty clear-cut to me. Nunn not consistent enough for me to put him in the rotation just yet

Edit: forgot Bev. I really just don't know where he fits? Like he's providing solid defense but not doing a whole lot else to make me say 'I want him on the floor'

An ideal lineup has Austin or Dennis starting over Pat Bev.

AD (26) - TB (16) - Wenyen (6)
LeBron (24) - AD (8) - Wenyen (8)- Troy (8)
Troy (16) - LeBron (10) - Reaves (12) - Bev (10)
Lonnie (28) - Dennis (20)
Reaves (14) - Westbrook (28) - Bev (6)

This makes sense, you’d probably switch 10 of Lonnie’s SG minutes and put them where Bev’s SF minutes are though. Just to avoid Westbrook/Dennis/Bev lineups lol

It's becoming clearer:

AD
Lebron
Troy
Lonnie
Dennis

Bench:
Russ
Austin
(SF from trade)
Gabriel
Bryant

Pat, Nunn and picks being the trade units

Pat is the most obvious one as he's making 13M and there's really no trade we can make for a name player that doesn't involve him. It would suck because he's a mentality you WANT to have on the Lakers and in the locker room in terms of being able to dig into people when they aren't playing hard.

TBjr having to start at SF (weak link in starting line-up) and having to look for a back-up SF (weak link in roster construction) is why some want the Turner trade...it strengthens the weak link at SF filling it with LBJ, uses existing player TBjr to serve in a more appropriate role as the back-up SF, gives a back-up plan with Turner if AD misses time, adds 3pt shooting, and magnifies the rim protection with elite shot blocking thus improving defensive play overall. Plus, the Lakers would have his full rights next year to re-sign Turner and could fill all those holes potentially bringing everyone back and still make it possible to reset the repeater tax. It just makes too much sense from so many perspectives.

Turner/Bryant
AD/Gabriel
LBJ/TBJ
Walker/Reev3s
Schroeder/WB

Man, this starting lineup is not it.
I wonder if Ham is using this lineup because Dennis and Pat are not good with Russ. Either way, this should not be the starting lineup.

Not surprised with having 4 playable PG’s… Those guys are creating so much unbalance line-ups. Have to move two of those guys. It sucks but Pat and Russ are the only ones that has the salary to get something in return.

Pat Bev is completely unplayable on offense. His defense is great, but nothing spectacular. Dennis can provide the same aggressive ball pressure that Pat does, even if it’s to a lesser extent. Not sure why Pat is starting or playing the minutes he’s been getting. Both Austin and Troy are better players to fill that starter spot.
