No Japan is a better squad than Saudi Arabia.

Game to forget for Costa Rica. This is as close to being eliminated in the World Cup just on goal difference in one game.

Canada playing very well and should've been already up 1-0 if it weren't for a missed penalty.

Canada is absolutely dominating Belguim and they are down 1-0. Have just lacked a finishing quality, including on their PK.

Portugal most likely seals the game with another goal. 3-1

Portugal survives 3-2, as the keeper's lack of attention almost costs them a game tying goal.

South Korea Uruguay was kinda boring. Portugal Ghana was a good and exciting game. I thought the penalty kick awarded to Rononoldo was questionable.

That was an incredibly soft penalty. The Ghana defender appeared to nudge the ball first before the (very) soft contact on Ronaldo, who was obviously trying to sell the call by flopping down. I would never award a penalty on a marginal call like that where the player is clearly flopping. They didn't even go to VAR on it. Then on the second Portugal goal, it was extremely close to being offside, though I'll stop short of saying it should have been disallowed.

Brazil just on another level skill wise when it comes to the beautiful game. I'm not sure Team USA will ever attain that level of skill and passion in my lifetime.

What a golazo that second goal was, my goodness.

Seems like the best place to watch the World Cup is on TV.

Group H is a doozy as any of the four teams can beat the other on a good day. But man South Korea's defense has not been as strong as this one since the 2002 World Cup. Kim Min Jae (the best defender out of all 4 teams and one of the best in the world) mostly took Nunez out of the match and the Korean backline made the great Luis Suarez the worst starter on the pitch. How Korea handles M. Kudus and to a lesser extent A. Ayew will determine whether Korea defeats Ghana or not - Korea will control possession but they must be disciplined defensively to prevent the quick counters that Ghana showed in the second half. Portugal, despite their talent looks as shaky as they did back in 2002 with C. Ronaldo playing the Pauleta role when they gave up 3 shocking goals to the US and lost to Korea to be eliminated in the group stage when they were #5 in the world with their golden generation.

Still believe Serbia will advance out of Group G as the second team. Serbia is better than Switzerland and will have only revenge on their minds for what happened in 2018 and their intense dislike for Shaqiri. This is the same Serbia that qualified straight away instead of Portugal by beating Portugal in Lisbon. They play with aggression and physicality and against a lesser team like the Swiss and Cameroon, you will see a lot more chances on goal by Serbia.

Iran at the death! Deserve this win, too. Absolutely took it to Wales in this one. Relentless attacking. They look considerably better than the U.S., to me. Hope I'm wrong.

And they add a second goal before the final whistle, for good measure. Wow.

As a fan of South Korea, I know too well how good and frustrating it is to play Iran - the side that isnt the most talented but the most organized, disciplined and physically strongest of all asian sides. People were clowning Iran after the England match.....this is why I originally had Iran as moving on with England. If the US does not get a result with England in the form of even a tie....the US needs to be very worried. Iran more than any other asian side excels in organization and discipline. Ive seen South Korea - a team that has never or rarely trailed the US in quality - get frustrated time and time again against Iran and we have never beaten Iran in Tehran for a reason when we have gotten positive results everywhere else including Riyadh, Sydney and beating Japan is our ritual. If the US gets a tie or even a win with England, they should feel really positive about themselves but any loss and they will feel pressure to breakdown a side that will not be easily broken down to a team of US's caliber. You just saw that with Wales.

Iran as an attacking squad is not that talented and fall short of South Korea, Japan and even Australia in Asia as they are mediocre especially in build up play - Korea almost always wins the possession game when playing Iran for example and I consider Korea and US to be roughly similar as of now in talent and quality. Having watched Iran for years though what they do have is an organizational shape and discipline that makes it extremely hard to break them down for teams of our caliber and if you are caught out of position on the counter, Sardar Azmoun is the best #9 striker in Asia and after Son Heung Min, Mehdi Teremi is probably at or near the top attacking midfielders/false 9s.
