I remember Kristie as Rebecca Howe on the long-running sitcom Cheers. Kristie's battle with weight has come to an end. RIP _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

She wrestled with many demons in the course of her life. It’s a shame choosing to become such a horrible Trumpster was one of them. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Seems to afflict a fair number of Cheers alumni _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel

It didn't help her addictions that she had to report to a bar for work. The local psychologist was an addict who frequented the bar so she couldn't seek help from him and she was sexually harassed by the bartender every episode. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL SEDALE TRIBUTE EDDIE DONX!

That's where everyone remembers her from, Jodie. I saw a B movie she was in called Summer School back in 87, but I wouldn't count that any more than I'd count Ratzenberger's cameo in Superman 2. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL SEDALE TRIBUTE EDDIE DONX!

She had her own series called Veronica’s Closet that went several seasons and Ratz was a big part of the Toy Story franchise. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

RIP. I hated her politics and never thought she was anything special as an actress. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".

Never thought much of her as a actress. Overrated at best. I think Shelley Long was much better than she was in Cheers.
Her downfall, she was both a stupid Trumptard and a former Scientologist so she made some horrible choices.
I guess RIP but I will never have kind words for any Trump supporter. May you all go straight to hell.
I'll disagree there.
I have to agree with you there. It didn't really bother me when she left the show. But when Kirstie Alley came on, I thought she took it to another level.
RIP. Although I don't agree with her ideas, I did enjoy her acting in Cheers. Her and the rest of the cast will always be part of my teen years.
Rebecca and Woody years > Diane and Coach, and I liked Coach as much as the next guy, but we're talkin The Woodster here. The earlier years were a bit before my time, too.

Most fans liked the switch. Not Shelley's fault, but it was the character and the cat/mouse w/ Sam. Got stale after awhile. If Kirstie wasn't a stand-out actor, I don't think Shelley was, either. Only two things I know her from outside of Cheers were the flicks They Money Pit and Night Shift (w/ Mike Keaton and Henry Winkler, who kinda reminds me of Long/Alley in a way careerwise/actingwise). There have been a plethora of TV actors who went on to excellent filmwork and as many who were more suited to TV. Woody and Danson, e.g, tho Danson had movie credits pre Cheers like Body Heat and Creepshow). Tom Hanks the preeminent example of a TV actor to film glory. In 80, Judd Hirsch and Mary Tyler Moore in Ordinary People, won the best pic. Both were lauded for their performances. Can happen, but Kirstie and Shelley not noted for their range, otherwise, they would've branched out from stuff like Summer School and Money Pit (as Tom Hanks did).
Imo, the writing improved from early to late run. Few years back, Cheers epis were on some channel at a convenient time for me to watch again on the regular for maybe a year. I watched a grip of epis again during that span and realized a thing or two in retrospect. It seemed the shows were funnier later in the run and maybe a little looser premise-wise, which I think helped. The more solid premise epis away from the bar were kinda hit and miss in the early go, again, because they usually just forwarded the Sam/Diane dynamic to another setting. I think the show's prime was late 80s. Lilith was a good later add, too. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL SEDALE TRIBUTE EDDIE DONX!

How dare you not give any love to Shelley Long's tour de force in Troop Beverly Hills, what a gross oversight on your part. In all seriousness, I liked that movie, which also starred Craig T. Nelson as her estranged husband, and Betty Thomas was funny as the antagonist.
