Playing guards up naturally going to lead to more injury over time. Depending on how the season is going, I wonder when guys will start to manage their long term best interests, vis a vis, it doesn't make sense to play hurt if its going to impact your stats/performance and risk greater injury if you're on an expiring contract. _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night. |

Feels like every time we start to get some momentum going the injury bug comes to knock us back down. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

It's super frustrating and I can't remember a Lakers season where that hasn't been a factor. Whether it was Shaq and Kobe's nagging issues (or Fish almost missing a whole season), or then Bynum every single year in the three straight Finals run (and Kobe's various finger and knee issues), and now today, it always seems to be a problem.
An old friend was on the athletic training staff for the 2015 Warriors and we celebrated in SF less than a week after they won that title. I remember him telling me how proud he was of their injury rate that year — it was a clear indicator of their role in contributing to the team's success. Most of the rotation guys basically played every game of the season IIRC. And guess what? That whole crew was fired that summer in favor of a whole new athletic training regime. From what I can tell, the Warriors have struggled to maintain health ever since.
All of that being said, I sometimes question the Lakers' investment in athletic training. Not that I know what's happening BTS. I don't know any of that. But the results have been poor for so many years now, nearly always among the league leaders in games missed, and I have to start wondering if it's not simply bad luck and possibly an inadequate investment in health. |

It doesn’t help that the Lakers medical staff has been horrid in taking care of the players |

If Westbrook misses any games, Kendrick Nunn and Scotty Pippen Jr. will have to step up because they will probably see more action. |
