Over 36 minutes Bryant averages 18.6 points and Myles averages 16.3
Bryant averages 10.4 rebounds, Myles averages 8.5 rebounds
Bryant's TS% is 66.3% Turner shoots 58.2%
Bryant shoots 35.7% from 3 Turner shoots 35.4%
Bryant has a better assist turnover ratio.
Bryant costs 1.8 million. Turner costs 18 million
Bryant costs zero assets. Turner would cost at least one maybe two first round picks.
You could probably sign Bryant next year for less than 8 million
You'd have to pay Turner most of the Russ money to keep him.
I mean sure Turner is a better defender and elite shot blocker and you can say he's better overall
But to say "nowhere near Myles Turner's level" seems somewhat of an overstatement, and that's before considering the price tag.

I'm not saying get Myles. I understand the cost difference, I'm merely speaking about their game. I was one of the fools who looked at his hot streak and thought he was better than he was. And as we've seen, Thomas has come down to earth.
You showed, the offensive numbers. Now show me the defensive metrics. Thomas can't even get on the floor cuz his defense sucks balls. _________________ ๐๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ #18!!! |

Unless Bryant has some undiagnosed heart condition, I see nothing in him that couldn't be fixed with some hard training. He looks fatigued and out of breath.
Of course that's maybe the problem here.
Both Myles and Wenyen look the part of an athlete... handsome chiseled beasts.
Thomas looks like Al Bundy.
Personally I'd just have LeBron's trainer work him out and he'll be better.
I like Myles, but not if it's going to cost us all of Russ's cap space and a pick. |

Offensively I'd probably take Bryant. Though it isn't by a wide margin. But defensively you are comparing one of the leagues top defensive centers, to a guy who is a matador.
Bryant is losing minutes to Wenyen Gabriel right now for that very reason. He's only played 20 minutes a game over the past four, and that included a double overtime game.
For the minimum he's a steal. But he'll probably get MLE money next year, and he won't be nearly the bargain. |

let's just say TB struggles against size and athleticism. we were eaten alive on the boards for the past 4 games. he is good on offense, but provides no rebounding and shot challenging which forced Ham to play Wenyen more. |

The premium thing in bringing in a defensive center capable of playing starter minutes at that positionโฆis AD at the 4 on the defensive end. Browh!? Our D would be lit! _________________ Not familiar with the salary cap/CBA rules & how it impacts our Lakers?

He feasted on the Blazers, and Blazers had no counter (presumably because Nurkic is injured). He can play but a lot of his effectiveness is dependent on matchups. |

I think people forget what Bryant spend the summer doing this year and last. He didnโt spend it training to get better. He spent them rehabbing to get back. Those are two totally different things and ways of training. |

This is the Thomas Bryant I envisioned when we first signed him as a rookie.
He plays with energy, enthusiasm and passion which lifts the team and excites the crowd.
When his jumper is falling, like it was tonight, he is deadly!
Even though his defense is suspect, he does give effort on that end.
Overall, his heart and hustle helps him to not be a total defensive liability.
He has progressed well from his injury. I hope we can bring him back next season.

Bryant is fun to watch when heโs engaged, sometimes a bad defensive possession ruins his confidence he needs to make sure heโs engaged every time |

Thomas Bryant goes full shaq mode one game and full Kwame brown in others. I like what he brings though. |

Not really because even at Kwames worse he could play defense. |

I like Bryant a lot, and agree with BILBJH's post, comparing Turner and Bryant's productivity vs. cost. Made a lot of excellent points. Also, Bryant was ideally brought to back up AD, as a bench player. Him playing as a starter is due to AD being injured. Imagine Bryant's production against other backup centers. While also giving AD rest, while helping to maintain the teams offensive output. Defense is not his forte, but his energy/hustle make up for that deficiency, imo. With the cost to get him being high, and the cost to keep him also being high, getting Turner would be a bad investment.
It's just more of rival executives trying to prey on what they perceive as the Lakers being desperate to make deals. Even bad ones. The FO has been smart not to cave, and I hope they maintain that stance. _________________ ZOOM!!!!!!!!!!!! |

We are bringing Kwame Brown into the discussion; the burned-out #1 pick, one of the biggest #1 pick busts in the NBA? Michael Jordan never really has recovered from that choice.
Best known for throwing cake.
He came here as a bust, off the scrap heap, oh how the mighty have fallen. He re-invented himself as a defensive specialist and even gave skilled offensive centers a bad time. Kind of Kendrick Perkins like I'd say. But no hands, couldn't catch a pass to save his life - reminded me of another Celtic Greg Kite, who had no offensive game at all, wouldn't even try to put it up over Kareem, when he was only two feet from the basket.
Thomas Bryant was a second round pick I believe; we didn't keep him, and Washington got some good play out of him. We get him to sign with us (again), basically for NBA peanuts and he has played great.
Several times he has been the second leading scorer on the team.
Has done his best to cover in AD's absence, at least offensively.
Has played at least as well as half of the centers in the league right now.
Can shoot three pointers, can shoot free throws.
Been a positive source of energy for the team, no whining.
Is articulate in interviews and represents our brand well.
Has contributed heavily to several wins, not just garbage time points.
And for a guy making minimum wage NBA style, we are complaining de doesn't play defense as well as Kwame Brown?

Please keep starting him with AD back. He struggles against athleticism, and we have AD cover that. He can shoot the 3, so he isnโt going to affect how AD operates. AD can defend most players at the 4, and this also prevents AD from banding with physical centers like adams, Nurkic, etc |

At TBโs best, you can play him with or without AD and get a bunch of productive minutes
At TBโs worst, we can bench him and either play him for only 12 minutes or play Wenyen at C
Itโs good flexibility to have. His worst is definitely exposed more with AD out, hopefully this is the last extended period AD is out for the rest of the season _________________ #18 next... |

I think some of you forgot about how bad an offensive player Kwame was.
Thomas Bryant has the eighth longest wingspan in the league.
He has a standing reach of 9' 4.5"
AD has a standing reach of 9 feet even to give you a point of comparison.
Giannis has a standing reach of 9' 2"
The dude is nowhere near the athletic ability of those two, but he has freakish length. I think you can teach him how to become a better defensive player
