I would usually say this is the quiet before the storm of a trade; one that I fear may be a trade to just do a trade; but is it just that we have decided not to do a thing? For team spirit I think something has to be done even if a band aid of some sort.

You're only going to see a report if there is a leak either from the Lakers or from other teams. Most of what you're going to see is either spitballing or clickbait pieces that try to make spitballing sound like real news. We have about three weeks to go, and most trades will happen within 24-48 hours of the deadline. It is possible that something will happen sooner, of course, but you're more likely to see warmed-over talk about the usual suspects. There is a cliche that 95% of trade rumors are wrong and that 95% of trades aren't rumored. There is truth in that.

Rob has not acquired a rotation player during the season since Magic was here. I’m not expecting him to do anything. He doesn’t make in season trades, except salary dumps, which is still possible I think.

Rumors are just for entertainment purposes.

The only thing that matters is a report that a trade has actually been consummated, which is usually broken by some reporter a few minutes before it is officially released to the world.

As Hunter said, most trades happen 24-48 hours before the deadline. So, if anything is going to happen, it probably won't happen for a few weeks.

We have to do something but that doesn’t necessarily mean the FO feels the same way, they could very well be open to dragging the personnel decisions until the summer

The problem is that Rob has no control over what other GM’s are going to offer him. If the only deals are ones were the Lakers get ripped off then the best deal is no deal at all.

Another issue is that Pelinka isn’t really highly regarded around the league, relationships matter when it comes to a team willing to do business with you, there is a reason why the Pacers traded Brogdon to the Celtics for low value, both FO’s have a relationship together.

I don't stick up for Rob as overall I'm disappointed in his job performance, but truth is truth...he got Dwight during the season one year and then Drummond during the season another year...so yea, he does.

IIRC he added Reeves and Johnson during the season last year and both were in the rotation.

Those players were all signings and waiver pick-ups. I was referring to trades. Good job getting Rui.

Todays move, and perhaps more, makes me say pending
