Quote:
James Cameron
One viewer expressed his opinion that James Cameron was a nightmare to work with, “according to the stories from the set of The Abyss.” His perfectionism reportedly led to an incident where he “almost drowned Ed Harris during filming.” Harris was said to have been deeply affected by the experience and has refused to discuss the film in interviews.

Quote:
Stanley Kubrick
It is widely acknowledged that Shelley Duvall found working with Stanley Kubrick difficult while filming the horror classic, The Shining. Someone stated, “Stanley Kubrick was difficult as a director. He made Shelly Duvall do that scene in The Shining where she walks up the stairs with a bat 127 times!”

Another suggested, “She has said she understands why he was so cruel with his intentions set on perfection. Still, she cried real tears often while filming the movie.”

Quote:
Francis Ford Coppola
Finally, someone shared that “Francis Ford Coppola wanted the cast to yell abusive things at Winona Rider to get a specific reaction out of her. Still, Keanu Reeves and Anthony Hopkins refused to assault her verbally while working on Bram Stoker's Dracula.“

We hope you enjoyed this Reddit rundown of the worst directors and actors to work with, respectively. This article was inspired by the internet and did not necessarily reflect the views of Finance Quick Fix.

The list should include Alec Baldwin if by difficult to work with you include the reason of being dead.

I've seen The Shining Making Of vid, tho. Shelley appeared to be acting like a ditz on purpose in some of those scenes, so I dunno. Not to say Kubrick was a breeze to work w/, but in that she pissed him off while they were all ready to film a scene in the driving snow and she missed the cue while she was inside eating soup. In another scene she complained about losing hunks of hair while showing Kubrick 3 hairs and in their banter he said, "I have no sympathy for you" and she asked why and he replied, "because it doesn't help you" (it was friendly/sarc banter that part). Kubrick was legendary for being difficult to read, but who's to say Duvall wasn't acting ditzy just to get an annoyed reaction? She actually candidly discussed in that Making Of that she supposed she was in fact jealous of the attention Jack got on set and that she liked attention. Some peeps are that way, we know this. Jack had no probs, Scatman had tears down his face for the oppty to work there, the kid was OK. It was only Shell. I don't hate her, thot she was great for that role and was BORN to play Olive Oyl and remember her HBO Fairy Tale Theater show as a kid, but cmon, yo.

And that article was written by someone who just finished puberty maybe 1-3 yrs ago.

Landis actually was dickish on set in movies, per everyone. He had a style. The culmination of that was the accident on Twilight Zone: The Movie wherein a stunt pilot said he was warned about the danger of that sequence beforehand. They skirted child labor laws w/ the kids because they could (language gap w/ parents of kids, parents eager for the oppty). That's the least of the probs, however, when you're discussing an incident involving two decapitations and two dead kids.

And it turned out Landis and Spielberg's segments were the two weakest of the film. Those of George Miller (Mad Maxes) and then Joe Dante (The Howling 1, Gremlins 1) were the two good'ns.
